Threshold distributions by frequency

See the spread behind the average. Open a frequency for the 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentiles and a histogram for each ear.

Lower thresholds mean better hearing. The median is the 50th percentile. The 10th–90th range shows the broader spread; the 25th–75th focuses on the middle of the distribution. Percentiles interpolate between measurements when needed. Each frequency has its own sample, with one measurement per member per ear. Estimates, no-response limits, aided and unknown-condition tests are excluded.

How to read this summary

These are member-entered public hearing records, including records with only speech testing or reported context. They represent members who chose to share, rather than the whole forum or the general population. Each member contributes one current record and up to two ears.

Severity uses the average at 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000 Hz (PTA4). Category charts and the median follow the directory’s browsing rules, including supported estimates in 325 records. The community curve uses measured values only.

Missing values, no-response limits, aided tests and unresolved measurements can leave categories unknown. Legacy records are treated as unaided unless a member records otherwise. Presumed loss types are shown separately from patterns supported by masked bone-conduction measurements.

Calculated patterns describe shared measurements and are separate from a clinician’s diagnosis. Category links find members with that pattern in either ear: the directory counts members, while the ear charts count ears. This summary refreshes when shared hearing records change.
