Smile, Unitron just got new platform and hearing aids out

Unitron and phonak have gotten more similar over the last decade, but they are not the same. Certainly less the same than phonak and the ks9s. I’d say bernafon and oticon were getting more the same earlier than phonak and unitron, but are maybe in a similar place now.

But if you’re on the “all hearing aids are largely the same” team, which I am absolutely sympathetic to, then sure they’re essentially the same.

Why would they piss off Phonak? They’re hearing aids made by the same company.

Yes, whichever company makes an improvement, they keep it unique for around 6months, then it migrates to all the other companies in the group.

It’s not always ‘Phonak first’ either. There’s been a few innovations that started in Kitchener. The Smooth/sharp wheel control was good for people who understood it. I think the open fit canal/flutter compensator was theirs too.

So nothing from the Unitron variant of the Phonak Audeo Sphere. I was hoping that would happen with Unitron as well. So now I doubt that Naida will get the Sphere either. The Sphere might be a basic feature only from the next new series of hearing aids.
