Demant takes over KIND GmbH & Co. KG

I heard about closing Value Hearing in Australia - is it the same situation as you described?

I don’t have any information on that. The notice on their site seems to imply something similar.

“As we bid farewell, we want to emphasize our most important lesson: Independent hearing care providers should be your first choice for hearing health.”

and…

"It’s crucial to understand the current landscape of hearing care in Australia:

• Independent hearing care clinics are mostly small businesses, making up only about 13% of the Australian hearing care market.
• Their larger competitors are often multinationals primarily focused on the bottom line, although there may be exceptions.
• With independent clinics, the owner is typically a hearing care provider first. They prioritise your care and outcomes over profits.
• Independent providers need your support, as they don’t have the massive marketing budgets of their larger, often manufacturer-owned or multi-national competitors."

I checked Kind.de website and it seems that Demant takeover has been finalized, because they no longer sell Starkey manufactured aids, only Oticon and Audifon manufactured aids.

I checked Demant website and indeed the sale was finalized on 1 December 2025.

My whole issue with this company, audifon, stems from the fact that they seem to be a really small firm producing hearing aids. I had never heard of them before this. I am not sure if Demant acquiring them will make any difference whatsoever.

I don’t even know anyone who I could turn to and ask “Hey, do you also experience xyz?”. It’s an obscure company and only has one provider in my country.

I found out only today that Audifon was established in 2004. This makes me to wonder who did manufacture KIND aids before 2004? I owned two KIND aids by 2004.

Are not oticon aids sold in your country? Why buy audifon again?
