You and I have the very same h, a. model. My follow up appointment with my Costco fitter is next Thursday. I started my “adjustment list” for him nearly 2 weeks ago. One, when I remove the pair from the charger in the morning, that GENERAL QUARTERS ALERT loud, boisterous clanging SHIPS BELL is intolerable.
Hi, it’s me again. I’m currently trying to find a solution to my problem: when I answer incoming calls, I can’t hear the other person for the first 2–3 seconds, and I don’t know how to fix it. Could you please let me know if you’re experiencing the same issue—not being able to hear the other person for 2–3 seconds?
I think you have an Iphone. Are you using the hands free double tap to answer your calls? I don’t know anything about IPhones, but I’ll post my Samsung S25+ observations on answering calls.
When I get a call, my phone screen will light up and I’ll receive a beep followed by the my ringtone which would play at a reduced volume at first then increase rapidly. I believe this is a feature of the aid as not to play the ring tone at full volume so as not to startle you by blasting the ring sound directly into your ears.
I turned on a feature on my phone to announce the caller’s name or number, which is very handy while driving.
I double tap my aid to answer and the call which then proceeds normally. To me, this does take a few secounds, but I wait a few more seconds to hear the caller announcement and my ring tone playing before answering.
How many rings do you hear in your aids before answering the call?
I hope the info provided here will give you some investigative ideas to try.
Here we go, i sent this messege to Resound, maybe they will help me..
I’m the happy owner of another pair of newest Resound
EI-998-DWHC hearing aids. I’m satisfied with the sound quality - everything is great except for one thing. Namely, I experience a very frustrating delay in hearing the other person during an incoming phone call - it takes about 3 seconds before I can hear them.
Here’s some information:
I tested this on a different iPhone model (I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max; I tried it on an iPhone 17 Pro) - no change, the delay is stil there
- Optimizing the connection doesn’t help
My current iOS version is 26.5.2; I also tested it on iOS 27 beta 3 - same issue, the delay is still there
A friend of mine who has an earlier model of the same hearing aids (5) confirmed that he’s experiencing the same problem - he hears the caller’s voice on an incoming call after a 3-second delay
When I initiate the call, there is no delay
When listening to music on Spotify, I hear the sound in my hearing aids immediately
- my currently version of app resound is 1.43.2 (Resound Smart 3D)
- I also turned off the “hands-free” feature, but that didn’t help either
- Most importantly, my old Resound Enzo Q hearing aids didn’t have this problem!
I did a follow up with my Costco fitter last week and planned to return these JABRA E P MAX tinny sounding ones and replace with Phillips 9050. As far as I’m concerned, not being able to hear an incoming caller is a deal breaker. Way back, I went through a messy horror story with those awful KS9s for nearly 6;months.
Unfortunately, the Phillips 9050 highest frequency receiver only goes to 100 decibels and must be totally, permanently imbedded in a silicone mold. That means, if anything goes wrong, the hearing aids have to go back to the factory.
The Jabra E P Max have a high end decibel limit of 132. Since my right ear loss is nearing that level, currently, these are my only option with Costco choices. It’s pretty sad when we reach the end of the road. Game over.
I know I’m being a pain, but I need your help—please take this seriously.
To those of you who have Resound IA hearing aids (regardless of the model—I currently have the top-of-the-line Model 9)—please check if, when you receive an incoming phone call, you don’t hear the caller’s voice until 3 seconds later. I’ve verified this on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, and a friend of mine with an iPhone 15 Pro is experiencing the same issue.
The current software version for the hearing aids is 10.62.1.1
My audiologist has contacted Resound. So far, Resound isn’t acknowledging that there’s a problem at all—maybe you can help?
I have the same incoming phone calls issue with the Jabra E P Max and worse. Mine are nearly identical to the Resound Enzo I A. There’s also a chronic disconnect from the app with my Jabras that prevents making outgoing phone calls. I closed the bluetooth on the iPad, my phone is an iPhone 16 Pro with up to date O/S. Had to disconnect and re-pair the hearing aids. I only got fitted with these crummy royal pain H A’s a few weeks ago. Hoping and praying that Costco rolls out the Soundgear AMP’s quickly.
Interesting, it was marketed as being the smallest superpower device, but it isn’t in real life? I was never sent a dummy to compare.
" ReSound notes that its housing is 12% smaller than its closest competitor in the super-power category, making it their smallest superpower housing yet despite packing a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
You have been misled. The housing , to me, is huge. It requires a pair of custom molds that cover the entire ear shell. They didn’t even put a little pull tag to enable ease of removal at bedtime.
I don’t have any audiologist ~~~ I FIRED her after she cut my last hearing test very short after I told her that I couldn’t understand anything she said with her ultra high pitched voice. My excellent Costco fitter is superb. I’m not going to waste time phoning Jabra nor Resound. Am returning these to Costco as soon as the SOUNDGEAR AMP units are available in our store (maybe next month).

Good on you, more people need to understand that these people work for us, not the other way around, lucky enough there’s plenty of good clinic’s to be found that are more then happy to accommodate anyone and who actually takes the time to get things right.
If you’re unhappy with your audiologist the best strategy is to to be honest and ask for a referral for a second opinion. At the very least you’re not left in a situation where you need urgent help and don’t have anyone to turn to. Sometimes your audiologist will actually be grateful for the request. It can be really challenging to work with personalities that are very different to your own, and if things aren’t going well its a lot easier when the request to transfer comes from the client and you know someone who would gel with them a lot better.
It isn’t a handful of times that I get referrals for older men who subconsciously dismiss what female clinicians say but will listen to me and do much better. At the end of the day we want everyone to be successful and sometimes that means referring elsewhere.
It’s important to remember that clinicians are people too. When it comes to communication disorders there is a lot of room for miscommunication and misunderstanding on both sides. It’s not us vs them and if you see things that way it isn’t going to be a successful relationship or optimal outcome for either party. Make it easy on yourself.
When I got my ReSound Enzo iA hearing aids there was an Oh Wow factor right away. The hearing instrument specialist has been remarkable.
While I am happy to read you feel and hear better with Enzo IA, I have in mind you have refund once every 5 years.
I really recommend you to at least try newest Phonak E-Sphere with UP receivers, which will be announced tomorrow. For what I recall, you have written that you still have problem with conversation with your wife near home due to noise.
I'm having an issue with my right Jabra Enhance Max (ReSound Enzo IA) aid. At first I would hear a random high frequency chirp similar to the sound of a bird. The duration of the chirp is very short. I first thought that the aid was trying to amplify a sound to a level which I can hear. The chirp which was random now continues to chirp. Every sound in a quiet room generates the chirp. My typing on my keyboard produces a chirp with each keypress. The mouse click does the same also.
I have changed the mic filters on 2 August. I have cleaned the acrylic earmolds and replaced the tubes on both aids. So far, no problem with the left aid. Right aid still chirps. I downloaded an android app called Frequency Generator to determine the frequency of the chirp and 8k matches the chirp. I don't know if this is a issue with feedback management or a different issue with the aid. I'll call my Costco fitter on Monday.
