Probably only in a very basic way right now. For example they will default to a different dnn strength based on hearing loss.

Have you downloaded genie 2 from somewhere or it updated by itself? Mine’s still not updating. I’m curious to try a “pseudo” NAL-NL3, it seems to do what I think it should do for me, such as more compression and less gain on the high frequencies, my pushes the “ch/sh” sound too high.

You can sometimes get a pop up informing you ones available, most people just use the genie updater
some of these updates are country dependant, so USA or UK install usually does it.

I am not a pro, but you can change all the settings you want in the fitting screen, but the actual fitting formula goes way under the hood to accomplish the outcome, so your “pseudo” formula may only get you into the ball park, but no box seat.
Have you tried v5?

My audiologist does not have ACT test equipment. Would that mean she really can't set up the Reveal to take advantage of it's capability?

I don't know for sure. However, my answer would be rather "not necessarily". It's just another tool in the box to balance between sound quality and fidelity vs. speech understanding in noise.

There are other ways of customising the same features that are customised by the ACT test without doing it. There wasn't any published research tying ACT test results and the resulting programming changes to improved device performance for the end user on average the last time I looked, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The ACT test score was one piece of input data in the Intent fitting software. My thinking is that it is used by the to achieve the speech clarity - environmental sounds "balance" point in the new Reveal.

I had a look at the NAL-NL3 stuff, but because my in-situ measurements are vastly different from my , I couldn't really give it a try, but it was interesting to see the difference in compression.
I haven't ever given a try to V5 no, I'll setup a separate program for it.
In any case, to get back on topic, I'll definitely skip the Reveals, I'm still paying for my Intents, they cost me around 5000€ and there's no "swap" program in place.
I'll be curious to see the feedback of people when people really try it though.

Bruno your is more or less same to me, same type of flatten hearing loss.
I am using Intent 1 too. Do you think the Intent work well for you?

Slightly off-topic but related:
The Philips Android app updated today. The only significant enhancement was to enable background noise reduction when streaming for aids that support that feature. No current Philips aids do support it, so now we know something about the next Philips model.

Looking in Genie it seems that with the new reveal dual they're giving clinicians the ability to exclusively focus microphone directionality for speech while keeping environmental settings under the "unblinkered" configuration Oticon started using with Opn. There are three settings from what is basically omnidirectional with two narrower focused options available. Training for audiologists will be available from August 31 where I am.

I looked at the Oticon app as well and saw the same updated capabilities as you saw for the Philips (what will apparently be the Philips 9060). This confirmed that, at least as far as the user in concerned, the Philips wearer won't have any user control features disabled. Since the 9050 operating software is different than the Intent, it will be interesting to see just how the 9060 and Reveal systems differ.

This is a very interesting comparison. It's amazing that Widex have the broadest and most precise length options, even though Signia use the same design now.

Yes, though it's from a few years back, so it's possibly not updated. Still current for oticon and phonak though.
