How were battery level during the two different results, Baywood?
Fresh battery came with KS6 last Monday. This is day 3 and the battery indicator has not moved; I wonder if it’s even working.
After my last post, I walked around our quiet neighborhood, and got the fades aagain; not severe but annoying. Back at home and the stream is steady again?
There is no technical contacts in the box; just “contact your provider”…
Not urgent for now.

I got my KS6’s last Saturday and am very disappointed with the direct streaming quality from my iPhone 6. I am a first time hearing aid user. During conference calls and listening to music or podcasts the sound is similar to a very poor scratchy AM radio station quality but the speech is understandable. In addition, the sound cuts out if I move the phone more than about 12 inches from my body. If I move my phone to the right my left ear cuts out and the same with my right hear if I move it to the left. I found that holding the phone over my breast plate gives the best performance. I started to use the speaker phone instead of the direct audio feed because of the poor audio quality. I went back to Costco yesterday and they spoke to technical support who had no clue but recommended reloading the hearing aids code but we didn’t have time to do that last night so they will schedule me for next week. I don’t expect that to make any difference but you never know. It seems like the power between the iPhone and hearing aids is not sufficient to give a good quality sound. It’s almost as if the batteries were too weak so I switched to a new set of batteries which didn’t change anything.
I bought the K6’s primarily for the direct streaming feature and although the sound is understandable it is definitely lacking in quality which I was not expecting.
I suspect there is a software problem or a setting that can allow for higher power output but of course this would reduce battery duration so it may be throttled on purpose to reduce battery usage but the Resound tech did not indicate this on our call together.

There’s a setting within the streaming program called Streamer BassBoost. You can have your fitter increase the strength and see if that helps. But if you’re using open domes, any low-frequency amplification will simply leak out. You may need to switch to a more closed fitting such as tulip domes when listening to music.

A couple of months ago I tried the Lynx9 streaming and had very scratchy and hard to understand sound.
The KS6 stream sound is very good, much better than my proven Resound Forza with the Clip+.
I can now understand my wife clearly while talking on the phone, which was not quite so with the Clip+.
Except for some fading while listening to audio, the sound quality improvement has been very welcome.
So it looks like there are differences on how we are fitted, more so as to the KS6 themselves!?
I will be contacting my Audi to resolve the fading while listening to audio (no fading during phone calls).

Great, that’s exactly what I was looking for. I have compared the data sheets of the ReSound liNX 9 (LN961-DRW) and the Kirkland Signature 6.0 (KS661-DRW), and the specifications are exactly the same with the following excetions:
Under the Balance section, the Linx9 lists the following: DirectionalityTM, Directional Mix Processor ( Adjustable directional mix), Natural DirectionalityTM II, Synchronized SoftSwitchingTM, AutoScope Adaptive DirectionalityTM, MultiScope Adaptive DirectionalityTM, Fixed Directionality, Binaural Environmental OptimizerTM II.
The KS6.0 is quite vague in this area only listing the following: Advanced Directionality, Directional Mix Processor (same as linx9), Directionality Options, Binaural Environmental Optimizer II (same as Linx9).
The “Advanced Directionality” of the KS6.0 is likely the “Binaural Directionality” of the Linx9. The vague “Directionality Options” of the KS6.0 probably includes most or all of the Directionality options of the Linx9, but this is only a guess on my part. The “Synchronized SoftSwitching” of the Linx9 is not listed for the KS6.0. Perhaps the experts could shed some light on these published differences. These 2 units may be nearly identical, but I suspect only Resound will know for sure. If there are any differences, they are probably not enough to make any real world difference. Awesome, given the price of the KS6.0.
One more thing, for the Android user, there is some hope. The Samsung Galaxy S5 can connect directly like the iphone without needing the Phone Clip+. The current ReSound android app (ReSound Smart) for the GS5 is not compatible with lollipop only 4.4.2-4.4.4, but an update is coming soon, and it may or may not work with the KS6.0. Not a lot of options, but at least ReSound recognizes the need to have an android option. Check Google Play for a list of supported features.

They did make an adjustment to increase the bass but the scratchiness of the sound remained. I am more concerned about the fact that the sound cuts out all together when my iPhone is about 2 feet away which implies a very weak signal to me.

[quote=Baywood;120979]Audio stream from iPhone 6+ fades in-out, and ear to ear. Consistently since Monday, more pronounced at gym. I
wear the phone on my belt.
I think I read somewhere that this was caused by WiFi interference [probably when scanning for a network] so try turning that off and see if it affects the fading

My wifi network at home runs on 5 GHZ, so no issues there. The streaming quality is better than the KS5s and the phone clip +, and much better than my ReSound Future 8s and the phone clip.
TV streaming with the Streamer 2 is marginally better than with the original streamer, but my devices are analog out, so I’m not taking full advantage of its features. I have a TV and a streamer in my kitchen area, and using the microwave oven does disrupt the streaming. Overall, I think the KS6 is a nice improvement over the KS5.

I think this was mentioned before. I’ll try it tomorrow and will let you know. Thanks

I have had my KS6’s a week and I also have an iPhone 6 and have experience none of what you have found so it might be in the settings. The streaming has been outstanding. Music, phone calls, videos on Instagram, everything is clear even when I have the phone more than 12 inches from me. I have listened to music while playing poker with the phone resting on the table in front of me. Have had phone conferences with the phone sitting on my desk while talking and using my computer with no issues. It has been awesome in every aspect. Can’t complain about anything so it could just be your settings.

4 Day Report:
at that price, or more, this is a winner.

Try going into the iPhone’s settings, Music/Eq and select small speakers (try other settings as well). Helped here, although I don’t have the Kirklands.

These things are a whole lotta fun. I’ve played with the demo units and we are up to 15 prs of them out there in the last 2 weeks. I love them and so do those we’ve fit them to Go to the website, look over the specs, read comments, overanalyze and do all that crap we do. The critical analysis seems really good. I’m not trying to say that these are a panacaea by any means, but I sure know that I’ll fit myself at that price.

I am very interested in the KS6’s. Unfortunately as an Android user I know I need to either get an iPhone or a Phone Clip.
Was wondering - saw the Resound Linx App on Google Play Store. Does that allow your Android to talk with the KS6? Do you still need a Phone Clip?
Thanks
Kannon

I used the iPhone with the Phone Clip+ for 3 years before getting the KS6s last week. I thought they were good. Not any more. The difference, specially on calls, is major. As I said in a previous post, I can finally stop relying on my wife to make my phone calls. The audio book stream is also clearer and more natural.
There must be an Android app on it’s way! Call the KS6 tech number I posted a couple of days ago.
Good luck.

Well, the Samsung S5 family and, now, I assume the S6 family is MFI – ok, now a bit of misnomer. I fear that the lack of upgrades to the o/s will prevent phones that may be hardware capable of getting the bits needed to work direct. I think many manufacturers either used a cheaper part that wasn’t BT4 or didn’t bother to implement the newer Smart features as there weren’t the apps or need for it. Bummer, isn’t it?

The ReSound Smart app for Android does not work with the KS6. The forthcoming Kirkland Signature Choice app for Android will allow you to adjust the KS6 settings directly, but it won’t enable direct audio streaming. Only Apple products can stream directly. So you’ll still need to use the Phone Clip+.

Yes. At this point the phone clip + is needed for any communication between an android phone and the hearing aids.
There is another android app in the works that will allow direct streaming to the aids without the phone clip, but the date isn’t available nor have they said which specific phones and carriers it will work with (it definitely won’t be all of them).

The hearing aids are built to use Apple’s proprietary technology for direct streaming. No Android app will be able to replicate that. At least not without a license from Apple, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
