So if I were to trial 2 hearing aids at the same time, I would have to pay for both? $1800 + $2600?
Because I really want to take them both home so I can get a good comparison by testing the aids with my normal lifestyle
Thanks
Hi Padzy, I am guessing you have the same audi as me – the North Lakes store?
She mentioned someone currently trialling both the KS6 and Trax 42 when I was there for an adjustment to my KS6s yesterday.
I am about to do the same – well, I have arranged an in-store trial of the Trax 42 next month but I will most likely buy them and keep the KS6s so that I can more comprehensively compare them both.
Prior to the KS6 I trialled the KS5s for almost 3 months and before them I trialled the Phonak Brio 312s– they were my first ever hearing aids.
I feel I may be starting to abuse the generous 90 day trial offered by Costco but having said that, the audi didn’t seem to mind in fact it was she who suggested the Trax 42 as so far none that I have tried have really helped with voice recognition, particularly in noisy environments.
It remains to be seen how the latest tweaks will help – I haven’t had much opportunity to test them yet, however if the Trax 42 offer a significant improvement I would not hesitate to pay the extra over the KS6’s.
My only regret would be losing the great wireless iPhone connectability with the Resound product. I have used a neck loop streamer with the Phonaks and didn’t like it although in fairness, the Smart Connect streamer does look smaller and lighter than the Phonak Comm Pilot.
I do have all the Resound wireless accessories: the phone clip+, mini microphone and the TV Streamer 2. I don’t use the phone clip any longer – it was useful when I had the KS5s - but when I replaced them with the KS6s I also upgraded my Android phone to an iPhone.
I do not find the mini microphone much of an improvement over the built in mics of the hearing aids. That is close up e.g. at a restaurant, perhaps it might be useful in a presentation with the presenter wearing the mini microphone but I very rarely attend presentations.
The TV streamer is useful though. I do not usually use it with a TV although it does work very well with one. I use it mostly at work connected to my desk phone through a call recording device. The recording device connects to the phone and outputs an audio signal which is fed into the 3.5 inch input of the TV Streamer. I can then get the caller’s voice directly into my hearing aids wirelessly in the same way as with my iPhone.
Do you know, does Smart Connect streamer have a 3.5 inch audio input so that I can feed the audio signal directly into it. I realise I would still need to wear the streamer around my neck and have an audio cable running to it from the recording device but at my desk this would not be a problem?
