^^^^ OK - Got it! It’s the long “leash” that Jamin snipped off! I just did that very thing myself a minute ago. Initially, I found the leash helpful in keeping the aids in my ear (like a security thing), but the truth is, neither one ever came loose. (hope I didn’t jinx that) Even more, the leash drove me NUTS - it is a whip of plastic even thicker in diameter than my ear wire going from the unit to the receiver. Why? Dunno! But that dang leash simply never curled into the cup of my ear for a comfortable fit.
Instead, at its original length, it hung outside my ear cup annoyingly, and even caught onto my hair. I snipped it too short, and it poked into my ear cup - serves me right for dinkering. I had another set of leashes put on, but similarly, they refused to BEND to my will - let alone the shape of my ear cup. I was constantly fighting the ear wire and the leash trying to position the power dome into my ear canal.
So. Now they’ve been snipped off each aid. I’ll see how it goes. Could my ear canal get slippery during a workout at the gym. Quite likely! But I’m also going to try the Comply tips when they arrive this week. Will report back on their fit and any feedback/comfort/occlusion issues I may have.
Feeling BRAVE, I also took a nail clipper (sterilized o’course!) and snipped off that itty bitty loop nippy thingy at the tip of the Widex power domes. I feel like mailing it back to the company and say, “Redesign these domes so my ear isn’t poked with your irksome loop, please!”
I hope my isn’t compromised being slightly recessed into these domes but still with NO cover on top of them. You only live once, and I am clearly living dangerously. >:-)
