Thank you very much! Now if I can just figure out how to do a search by Post Number for post 258! LOL.

Very well explained.
To add a little bit to this, I have always wondered which automatic program the aids were in at a given time.
Doing experiments with manual programs can help you learn how the aids actually work. The aids also can be adjusted as to how sensitive they are to changing environments to switch from program to program.
If you and your fitter can work together on this the aids can be really fine tuned for you.

All I can say is my KS9s are never switching to the Music program that’s now a manual program. Because it’s awful. If I switched to it somewhere dead quiet, it would be okay, but the moment there’s any background noise, it magnifies it and it’s worse than being out in high wind. Nothing like that comes up when I’m on Automatic and playing music in the car.
So either the manual programs don’t relate to what Automatic uses, or my aids are switching to something other than Music when music is playing.

That’s my point. For example, if you copied your automatic music program to a manual program that you could turn on when you wanted, it would help teach you what that music program really is.
You could do this with other automatic programs as well.
When you put your aids into a manual program, they stay put in that manual program until you manually change the aids. Only in auto do the aids switch programs automatically.

I believe your Automatic program is now working great because the wind noise reduction was increased. In the manual Music program all music frequencies are raised , wind isn’t known by the manual program to not be a part of music, either wind noise isn’t considered or that trim doesn’t apply to the manual program. I really notice that the two manual programs I currently have are very solid, as in nothing changes for the better or worse as the environment changes. So are dependable in that regard. I believe these ’s are quite sophisticated, but their adjustment by the fitters is hit and miss, as it appeared to me that the fitter simply follows what the computer program suggests .

There’s that slider to the right of the message area. Just grab it and push it up to 258!

I can confirm that using a NoahLink Wireless and Target 6.1.5 I have successfully been able to program my KS-9s. AND the program comes up using the same nomenclature as it does in Costco (Feedback Reduction rather than Whistle Stop, High Frequency Protect instead of Sound Recover, etc). And I did it on a Mac running VM Ware Fusion to host a Windows 10 session, meaning the USB interface found Noah in the virtual machine.
I don’t see a way to tell if the Real Ear Measurements were saved in the hearing aids. I presume they somehow set the curve that’s saved with the hearing aids. Anyone know the answer?

is setting the 50, 65 and 75 gains to the prescription using the actual sound at the eardrum to measure and adjust the gain to.

Something else to note is if acoustics are changed the is lost at that point. Anything that can change the sound delivered to the eardrum effects REM.

Thank you! Didn’t know it was a slider. Now I know! I didn’t get one of those charts. Now I can print it out and take it with me to my followup appointment.

Although I prefer to ask the Costco fitter to add a few of these programs to manual access, another poster seemed to suggest that, if some of the listed programs are moved to manual, that they are no longer included in the repertoire accessed by the Automatic program, and can thereafter only be turned on manually. Has that been your experience?

Settings can be copied and pasted from auto into the manual area rather than moved, so they can exist in both places.

On that subject, I am so far pleasantly surprised how well the standard issue double-domes are working out for me with my KS9s. They insert easily, with a wiggling motion of my thumb tip to follow the turns and twists of my ear canals, stay in all day with no problem, and pop out easily at bedtime. Thus far, I don’t feel that I will require custom molds. What a difference the doubling of the dome tips seems to make!

Just checked the UK Costco website, and the KS9s are finally available over here - i’ll be making an appointment to start my KS9 journey very soon!
Does anyone know if the remote control device (not the app, the pocket remote) is sold by Costco (and that’s making the assumption that the Phonak Remote for Marvels will work with the KS9 - does anyone know if it will be compatible?).
Thanks,
Bob

You can get Marvel’s at Specsavers as well. I was told by one of their audiologists that their white labelled Advanced Elite aid, that comes in at 2k, is the Phonak Marvel.

The problem with Specsavers is I think their hearing aids are locked, like the NHS aids.
