The Phone Clip+ works really well. Besides phones calls, I can also stream vids or music thru it. I don’t like having a separate device, but got it cheap and it does work. Resound should be giving one free with every purchase.
Also, I did receive another email saying they are opening a more detailed investigation into the matter and will keep me posted
What is Android compatible? I have Jabra hearing aids and not so crazy about them, but,my Costco girl said that she does not know how she can help me any more adjustments, that hearing aids any hearing all do most of the same things,so changing to another brand would most likely not help me,
KS10 should do quite well for reliability with Android. They’re the only Costco aid that uses a classic BT pairing rather than /LE protocols which weaken the signal. That, or get the streaming/phone clip accessory.
I can hear very well on my phone, even without my hearing aids,it’s the clearness of speech talking with people and the T.V.is my problem,it seems my hearing aid department is really pushing this Jabra!
Keep asking for adjustments or try another store if possible. I self program now and am able to improve speech comprehension above what the Costco people ever could.
And don’t let Costco tell you that you can’t go to another store. Demand it. They tried that crap with me, even insisting that if I wanted to change stores, I would have to return the aids and buy the same ones at the different store. I called around and found a manager at a different store that would allow me to bring my Jabra’s to his store. But then I found some new Resound One’s (same as Jabra’s) for half what the Jabra’s cost me and returned the Jabra’s. I am playing around with compression and freq shifting and getting great speech comprehension now, so I believe these aids are quite good but it’s all in how they are programmed. Best wishes to you.
Thank you for your reply,It is very frustrating!I am running out of time to return them for my refund, and I feel right now, no one of the 2 Costco’s I have been to want to try another hearing aid brand for me. They say, like I said before in my other email, that all hearing aid basely do the same thing,so if Jabra does not work for me,neither will the other ones! I am lost,
I wish I could, but,I only have a flip phone and can’t post it. I notice that the volume goes up and down when watching T.V. just now I notice it!Music sounds very tinny to me,traffic noise is loud, even when my windows are rolled up.the shells behind my ear, when I touch them it very crackly, loud! at the gym, forget hearing anyone that will stop to talk with me,they have to get pretty close to me for me to hear them, this some of the problems I am having,
Music sounding tinny, traffic noise being loud and crackly noise when touching the hearing aids all sound pretty normal. Needing to be close to the person who’s talking to you also sounds normal. I’m guessing these are your first hearing aids? Do they help when you’re talking to somebody in a quiet room? Can you describe your ? (number of decibels at 500hz, 1000hz, 1500hz, 2000hz and 3000hz)
Do you wear your hearing aids most of the day?
Hello, thanks for writing back,I am not a new user to hearing aids,I have been wearing them since 2011. My hearing aids at that time were also made by Resound,it took a while going back and forth to a hearing aid adjuster, but,it all worked out and very well,in fact I still have them as my back up. My guy at Costco was very good about listening to me and never made me feel, like “oh here she comes again” I wish he was still around,he retired about 3 years ago. some of these problems,I did have with my old aids, but, they were resolved, but, these Jabra, has not been. I almost feel they are over powering for me,the 3 receivers are a little over kill maybe,
Maybe you can just type out your freqs and loss level for each ear? That would us a better idea of where your loss is at.
One question I have is, how long have you had your current aids? I ask because if they are old and haven’t been adjusted to recent hearing tests, maybe you were using under-fitting aids for a fair amount of time. Then when you get new aids, your brain isn’t used to all these sounds boosted at such high levels. Also, for me, once was preformed on these aids I experienced exactly the same issues you describe. I remember being happier when I demoed them then after REM at pickup. Im betting every issue you’ve described can be improved with adjustment.
And Jabra was the only type aid Costco would fit me. They said at my loss the Jabra was the only RIC that would help my upper freqs and that they had to many returns fitting people with similar loss in their other RIC aids.
Make a list of issues like you did here except a little more detailed. Take that to your next fitting and go through each issue one at a time and try them a few times with each tweak they make. I notice if I play around with certain adjustments, it can have an effect in other areas unrelated to what I just adjusted. So there is some back and forth to get things settled in.
Where do you get that it weakens the signal? classic is on all the time, thus consumes more electricity. The fact that LE is not on all the time doesn’t mean it’s weaker. It’s lower energy (less electricity) because it’s not broadcasting all the time. If you look at range, I think you’ll find that LE is at least as long, if not longer in range, than classic BT. LE transmits in intermittent bursts.
Bluetooth Classic – highly effective for short distances
Bluetooth Classic is designed for continuous two-way data transfer with high Application throughput (up to 2.1 Mbps); highly effective, but only for short distances. So, it’s a perfect solution in the case of streaming audio and video, or mice and other devices that need a continuous, broadband link.
Bluetooth Low Energy – as much as 100x lower power consumption
Bluetooth Low Energy provides only 0.3 Mbps of Application throughput. The data is sent in small (20 bytes) packages, but the range can be even more than 100 meters (330 feet) and the minimum latency between unconnected state to data transfer can be counted in a handful of milliseconds, while in BT Classic it’s about 100 ms.
Yet, the main advantage of using is its very low power consumption. Although the peak current of BLE (up to 15 mA) is half of the BT Classic current (up to 30 mA). But the power consumption can be even 100x lower for BLE!
So, for the 1W reference value for BT Classic, BLE offers 0.01W – 0.5 W power consumption. This means that simple BLE devices, like beacons, may function for 1–2 years with a 1,000 mAh coin cell battery.
With my Quattros, I can get very good sound input from my Mutli Mic 60 to 80 ft away. IIRC, the Roger Select also has an excellent range and it’s not using BT Classic but rather a Phonak proprietary BT-like low energy solution.
I’m no technical expert and was making a guess on why aids using / seemed to always have more connection stability issues than Phonak’s (or any Sonova product) classic . I assumed (wrongly) that part of the low power consumption derived from a lesser signal strength. But perhaps, given some of the info you posted, the issue perhaps lies in limitations in amount of data that can be sent between the phone and aid, and sometimes while streaming, it can’t quite keep up (but then that doesn’t explain the constant loss of connection on one side I experienced with ASHA that required a reboot of my phone, a problem I didn’t have with MFi. It also doesn’t explain why the ear opposite of whichever side pocket my phone is in drops the signal all the time, and picks it back up if I take my phone out and hold it in front of me.)? Again, just a guess.
But technical specs and explanations aside, the bottom line is between 6 months of personal experience and trialing aids, plus the general consensus of what I’ve read on this forum, BT connection stability (while moving outside) is far superior on Phonak’s classic BT compared to aids using LE BT. If you have experiences otherwise, then I’m jealous you don’t have these issues, but it certainly seems to be against the grain of what most people find. Remember the OP here was frustrated enough with ASHA to actually take the step of filing an complaint, lol.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my concerns on these hearing aids, the last hearing test was in march at that time it was done through my office. I can’t seem to find my Costco report, but,it was close if I remember right from the one I had at my ENT I can’t really make out what the numbers all mean, but, the speech 88 in right ear and 84 in left intensity 80M in R. 80M in L,.SRT45 R 35L and the chart looks like it went from 20 down to 8000 does this help?
20 thru 8k is the frequency. There should be a decibel reading at each frequency. Frequencies are right to left on the chart, decibels are up and down on the chart. As an example…8k (frequency) at 80 db (decibels), meaning they had to boost the gain 80 decibels to hear a tone at 8,000 hz
