Phonak Lyric 4 User Review

Not sure what level you have your Lyric set at, for me on the 1st volume above sleep mode, I heard clipping when a high freq object was near by like keys etc. You get that a lot with HA’s but on the Lyric it seemed to be especially present.

Yeah I used Lyric for about a month. It’s very good in one way for me, deep inside the ear and so gives me all that sound localisation and pinna effect back, lets me wear all types of headphones, no need to change batteries etc etc. The problem though is you can’t tune the sound. Well you can, you can add more high frequency boost because… of course you can but I’ve lost the low freqs. So whilst it does amplify those a bit, what happens is it boosts the high freqs as well and then makes sound incredibly painful for me. In a quiet place it’s ok, but if I go into a noisy place it’s like getting my head blown off, flushing the toilet is incredibly loud and painful with them. So no not really a viable option I’m afraid. I’m trying some new Phonak Virto Titaniums soon and hoping they will be a little bit like the Lyric, they won’t sound as pure but I’m hoping I can adjust the bands to give me a less harsh sound.
