Has anyone tried flashing a different firmware?

My Phonak Lumity 50 firmware was upgraded to level 70, which added Tap Control, Speech in Loud Noise (manual), WindBlock, SoundRelax and fine tuning Channels from 16 to 20. It worked and made a difference for the better.
My audiologist was one who preferred the lower levels which allows her more control and thought she could make adjustments to equal the higher levels. I’ve trialed 6 different brands and am still going through them as I am very technically minded and my journalling has really gave her valuable insight.
Upgrading can be done successfully although maybe limited to certain brands.

Sounds like you were using “trial hearing aids”. Those are a different animal and can be reconfigured by the audi. Not so for regular hearing aids.

Trial hearing aids occasionally come available on online markets and they are typically very inexpensive compared to retail prices at clinics. You can (have to) those but they need to be reset in target at least every six weeks. They start beeping in an intolerable manner after that if you don’t reset the “trial”.
