Phonak Sphere Infinio 90 sibilance

I’me trying out the Phonak Infinio 90 and just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with this particular model ( Sibilant essess ) ie , 66 sounds like thixty thix !!! . I’me due to see the audiologist in a couple of weeks . Hopefully this can be sorted as I do like this hearing aid.

Yeah, I second what @MDB and @Bimodal_user say: soundrecover 2 needs adjusting

Specifically: there is an “Audibility - Distinction” slider on the Target software and in the SoundRecover2 panel. Your best bet is to first adjust that slider a little towards Distinction as you are listening to someone make ‘S’ and ‘SH’ sounds. You’ll hear a point where the S stops being lispy.

Below that is a “Clarity- Comfort” slider. Id leave that on clarity for now but you can experiment.

Sound Recover is the name of Phonak’s program (actually Sound Recover 2, sometimes called SR2 for short) You have a very challenging loss. What’s your left ear’s ? Do you use an aid in it too? Do you know what your word recognition scores are?

The left ear is totally deaf (therefore no hearing aid)… I do Have a fitted . However I’m more reliant on the hearing aid . and I have no idea what word recognition scores are . the reply is appreciated . Cheers.

If the only thing that bothers you is the sibilance, the audiologist should be able to sort that out. I’m impressed that you seem to be doing so well with that hearing loss.

Same here. My left ear was completely gone when I was 4 years old (non-symptomatic mumps, 10 years before inttoducing vaccination for that disease in my country).
Now I am 35 and have a cochlear implant in my left ear. Maybe it’s worth having a cochlear evaluation? My gives me very good high frequency stimulation.

This doesn’t mean you have to have an implant, but evaluation would give you a lot of information about your hearing.

What’s the cause of your left-sided deafness?

Lost my hearing after a mastoid infection in the left ear . I have a fitted , however I’m more reliaint on the hearing aid ( its proximity to my ear drum )…

Did you have bone conducting tonal on your poorer ear? I am aware that this could be difficult to measure due to potentially destroyed bone during infections.

I ask because it is possible that you left sided cochlear function is preserved and your deafness is conductive.
