A new video released March 20 on the Phonak Youtube Channel shows how firmware updates for the Infinio and Lumity hearing aids are now possible with the My Phonak app. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is a newly enabled feature.

Interesting! I think a new version of the myPhonak app is about to be released and someone at Phonak accidentally posted that YouTube video. There is nothing anywhere else about this new feature. Glad to see that Phonak is finally adding this firmware update capability. Long overdue. I checked the Apple App store and there is nothing. Maybe someone can check the Android app store.

Thanks for sharing.

I was able to check the Android store and the latest version looks like it was from October 2024. Maybe the new version is dropping later today or over the weekend.

myPhonak on my iPhone is showing Version 7.0.0.1798 but my Sphere but my I90-Sphere’s are showing 1.0.12.0

Curious to see if the new app let’s me update.

Maybe an updated app is not needed. It’s possible that Phonak was planning to add this feature, and the necessary software was in the My Phonak app version from October, but the Phonak servers weren’t set up yet to do online updates. There’s no way to tell right now because they haven’t released any new firmware updates lately.

Phonak just pulled the video, so it looks like someone released it to Youtube before they were ready. Oh well, it is nice to know that this is a feature that Phonak will be adding in the near future.

It’s about time that Phonak adds with firmware update. I’m testing ReSound Vivia as I type this reply, and Auracast is already enabled. BTW, speech in noise is at least as good as, if not somewhat better, than Spheres.

I think you make a good point. I wonder if Phonak is adding the ability to update the hearing aids via the app so that they can rollout the Bluetooth LE/ firmware update without making every single user go visit their audiologist.

We shall see. Hope this is really soon.

I suspect Phonak saw what Resound was doing with their enabled aids and realized they couldn’t rest on their laurels any longer. It probably pushed them to get all the pieces together (new app, auracast, bluetooth LE).
