Use the Google free Live Transcribe App for speech to text in conversations. Unfortunately does not work with phone calls. Need to have it projected on google glasses so not having to look at phone to understand what someone is saying. I have 70-80% comprehension loss…

Actually that’s the point in doing to a standard. It should level the playing field whatever the experience of the Audiologist.
A newbie who’s been been properly instructed and is confident in doing REM, and more importantly knows the manufacturer’s software well enough to adjust it, to resolve the specific issue raised by the REM results - can have just as good results as someone who’s been running about for 20+ years. Possibly better if the experienced Audiologist has got into bad habits.

that’s what’s called a second hand or fifteenth hand anecdote. People use these all the time to “prove” a point. Let’s just say such stories don’t satisfy scientific or common sense standards.
My audi will provide but recommended against it for me. I have immensely surgically altered ear canals. My canals open out directly into my middle ears to aid in the removal of cholesteotoma from my mastoid areas. One of my ear drums is half the size it should be. given all this, I agree that having an audi insert a tube into my ear up against my ear drum is a non-starter. And anyway, those of us with conductive loss are all too aware that hearing continues past the drum into the middle ear, which REM doesn’t measure. Further, those with cochlear nerve damage will likewise not have that aspect of their hearing addressed by REM.
I’m sure REM can be a good tool for a quick and dirty assessment of performance. But prominent online influencers claiming that REM is “best practice” are probably behind customers’ insistence on having it performed, and providers are forced to comply. 30% of them anyway. Isn’t it possible that the other 70% aren’t necessarily incompetent, cheap and lazy; but rather don’t find that REM provides a good measure of success in their practice, or anyway in all circumstances? A bit of informed nuance in considering the complexities of hearing is always a good thing.

. I ended up trialing the Audeo 90 instead (we used the existing UP RICs from my KS9s).
Interesting that the Marvel receivers will not fit on the Inferno airs.
Someone is fibbing

Wow! what brilliant analysis. Can you BE more smug and dismissive? as Chandler Bing might have said. thank God you’re not my doctor. I hope that you’re no ones doctor or vet.

Me: here’s my medical history including surgeries and 60 years of diagnoses and tests.
Neville: flatly, that’s all nonsense. But hey, don’t be offended by my tone!

@Neville said: (unavailable)But please don’t think that I dislike you or have any negative feelings towards you at all. That’s not the case. You’re just a guy currently saying something I disagree with, who has at other times said things I agree with.
I think we all could agree to a “Thumbs Down” icon for those types of posts. @rasmus_braun or @AbramBaileyAuD?

Yes, please! It seems like a shortcoming to not be able to.
I promise to never give a thumbs down to Neville, eh?
