Oticon Real 1 best settings for headphone use

Hello team,

I was wondering if anyone had recommendations in Genie 2 to create a headphone profile. I like to listen to music and have invested in a high-end DAC and set of Planar headphones. I made sure I got pads that fully surround my ear and not cover the hearing aid microphones. Thus, they are huge and made by HiFiMan! They sound fantastic though.

The issue I get though is feedback squealing on certain playback frequencies. What settings would be best to try to reduce or eliminate this? Can I run feedback analyzer while wearing the headphones? My programmer will be here any day now so excited to get started.

Hi there, could you post your audogram as this will help everyone offer advice, maybe your using open domes, the acoustics will be the thing to watch (hear) I use Marley headphones without issue on my “music” program, this could be your “headphone” program.

I don’t have my audogram yet, need to download it from my when I get the Noahlink.

I have Oticon custom Micro-molds.

Can you run feedback manager with headphones on and have it tune for only the headphone profile?

Whoa, You’ve gotta cover the mics, because that’s where the audio from your cans is coming from!
The Real uses MyMusic for a Music program, and it’s a love or hate relationship, so add it using the Genie program manager, and test.
Make sure you go to the Automatics screen, and ensure Feedback Manager is set to Low, or off.
You can also run the Feedback Test tones with you cans on, just make sure you have a quiet background.

Maybe create your own custom Music program which you can fine tune better than the MyMusic one.
I found using a 2nd General program with the Fitting Rationale set to rather than VAC+, and turning off all the MSI, setting Directionality setting to Omni, and Feedback Manager Low, or Off is a great starting point.
You can listen to Music you are familiar with through your cans, and fine tune to you heart’s content!

EDIT Genie has 2 feedback choices, and the 1st is Feedback Manager in the Automatics section. The choices are Normal, Low, or Off.
The Older legacy Feedback manager is a backup, which uses the test tones, if the other choice doesn’t work for you.

The headphone cups go around the entire hearing aid and do not cover the mics(they are inside the cups). Thanks for the list of things to try, still waiting on my Noahlink.

The fidelity of sound is 10x better via headphones, especially good headphones.
