Just picked up Phonak Audeo Spheric I90

Wow, you’ve given me lots of food for experimenting. Should I be using NAL? I’ve been using the Phonak Digital for tuning so far. I’m just starting from what the Audiologist set up from my and assume they just use Target’s recommendations without any adjustments. Thanks so much for the ideas and recommendations. Very helpful!

I think the Phonak Digital is possibly based on NAL2 anyway, try a couple of them while listening to a looped audio track over different noise sources.

There used to be a ‘Bass Boost’ in Target too.

You’ll find that if you come back to your frequency compression settings in a few weeks, you might be able to re-tweak to bring more high pitch sounds in to your residual hearing.

Thanks Bimodal_user. I understand that it could take several months to get used to hearing aids but I just wish the brain would get going so that I can get my life back or at least some of it! The aids are in 10 hours each day but I have no idea if I have a 100% prescription gain and at the moment, I am trusting the audiologist on this. And because I’m uneasy with the technology, that doesn’t help either together with ear pressure sensation. What also irritates is waiting for the audiologist, watching the screen advertising how wonderful everything is people with hearing loss with various hearing aids, when the reality isn’t like that for lots of us. I can’t identify with the socialising etc when all I want to do is avoid them.

Almost the same case as mine. Go for the P receiver and cShells. I have no problem with occlusion effect, and the cShell will be deep, so I ordered with pressure (0.6mm vent).

Thank you very much! Step by step I optimize my Sphere with some improvements (from M receiver to P receiver, etc.)

I am trialing the spheres and use custom eat molds (which also used with my previous paradise aids.)
So far I have noticed no improvement, but I also have only had them a month. I am going in this week for a and some adjustments so we will see what that does.
The Infineo aids are an improvement over the Paradise, but nothing even close to life changing at this point.
I will say I am VERY impressed with the battery life though.

That’s interesting actually as I’d assumed the degree of venting was critical - you must have reasonable vents ? People don’t seem to be gettiing the benefit when wearing open domes either.

Real Ear Occluded Respose/Gain (/REOG) could provide the information if you had any additional slit leaks (rather unlikely).

I mentioned about that, because slit leaks may be a main cause of underfitting in higher frequencies due to lower feedback threshold.

could also provide the answer if gain from hearing aid is enough to overcome earplug effect in lower frequencies.

Do you have manual Spheric Speech in Noise program?

I don’t have a manual spheric program.

I am having a few other issues as well. We are doing a tomorrow which will help with some of the issues I am having.

I highly recommend requesting your for the manual Spheric program. In automatic mode, sometimes it’s a bit difficult to determine when it kicks on, because it also quickly kicks off when there is a longer break in talking.

I had a follow-up appointment with my audiologist last week.

We did fitting and some adjustments and she also added a manual Spheric speech in noise program.

The aids are working much better now. I haven’t really had the opportunity to test out the Spheric in the new configuration.

I don’t know why, but with 2 different audiogists here I have had to request a REM, they don’t seem to do it as a matter of course. I never get any pushback or resistance when I ask, they are happy to do it, but I do have to request it.

Rach time after the REM the improvement is very noticeable. Seems the could save a lot of time and effort by doing the REM at the outset.

Getting properly fitted for hearing aids using a competent audiologist is the key to success. You also need to find someone who really knows the Phonak platform well and is prepared to do a test and multiple fine tuning appointments. All these things make a HUGE difference to getting the most of these hearing aids.

I can’t help but wonder about all the people who have trialled these hearing aids and who were not happy with the results. I feel like the audiologists didn’t take the time to do a proper fitting and that is why these people got poor results.

Exactly. I am so tired of fiddling with in Target software, so I finally have reached the same conclusion.

Depending on your Speech Focus on MyPhonak app settings or preset directionality in Target software.
