Would anyone like to offer their experience with FitHearing?
I discovered this online source for hearing aids that appears to offer highly transparent and discounted pricing of most brands and models. Aside from the limitations of remote purchasing and setup, I wonder if this is a reliable source or is there something that I am not seeing?
Two experiences. The first, about a year ago, was fair except trying to schedule an audiologist visit was a little trying. Recent experience not so great. Never could do a remote session and sent the aids back. Still waiting for return of my money. Direct is another online outlet, but have no experience with them.
Hi: If you don’t mind, can you tell me what was terrible about your experience? I’m looking for new aids and FitHearing is near the top of my list.
Thanks,
I had a terrible time with the hearing caregiver I was assigned to, the person was friendly but knew nothing about the hearing aids that I got. They were aids and the fit was terrible and I could get nothing done about it. I had given up on getting my aids from the US Veterans Administration, as my hearing loss us military service related. Luckily a year later I got my aids from the that fit correctly and actually worked for me. Make use the aids you choose are know by the person you get assigned to do the fitting.
Hello…FitHearing seemed to be too good to be true. I suppose I may be too suspicious, but for this purpose let’s say cautious. I explored TrueHearing which was recommended by my insurance company. The price ended up to be nearly the same as patronizing the audiologist directly. FitHearing’s pricing online appears transparent. You select the brand and model. The price appears when you place it in your cart.
It’s like Amazon for hearing aids. I haven’t found another source designed like that. I am concerned that the hearing aid delivered will be exactly as ordered from the manufacturer and new, not refurbished, etc. I initiated the topic and question to see if others’ experience might give me confidence to proceed.
I’ve used a similar outfit called ZipHearing.com7, based in San Diego, with great success. Prices are good (discounted), they have associated audiologists in my area including the one I was headed to anyway when I learned of them, and they will file insurance paperwork for you. Your mileage may vary … and keep the blue side up and the pointy end to the front, at least that’s my approach to aviating.
Thanks for the information. I contacted ZipHearing and my hearing aids have been ordered after a visit with one of their contracted audiologists. The Zip representative was/is top notch. Their pricing is discounted and transparent.
Looks like you went with ZipHearing already. I’ve heard great things about them.
FWIW I’ve bought two pairs of from FitHearing over the past 5 years. I’ve also referred 4 other friends to them who each bought a pair also.
We have all been happy with our purchases.
However, I would highly recommend a purchaser is either already comfortable with programming or knows somebody who is that can help them directly.
Otherwise I would not recommend FitHearing for a first time HA buyer or someone who needs more direct in person support. Fithearing only offer online support as per their business model.
As a DIYer myself and having worn aids for more than 15 years now I just want new aids at the lowest price AND with a valid 3+ year Warranty from the manufacturer via the authorized seller. FitHearing offers that.
If I want or need additional services such as or custom moulds I’m happy to pay for that on a per item basis.
To be clear, you get what you pay for. I believe the gold standard is to find an excellent audiologist who meets your needs that you can afford.
There is another thread recently that covers FitHearing in detail .
They are legit, they have an NPI (provider registration) and the list of audiologist that work there is available . I posted the details there
