Hey,

I mentioned in a previous post that I had a kind of wound/ bump in my left ear (concha cymba). It was healing and I was finally able to wear my hearing aid.

Unfortunately, the wound is back. All that I did lately was I have changed the tubes as they got hard.
And because it never rains but it pours. I’ve got a wound in my right ear (helix). It’s where the tube is attached to the hook.

Did anybody have similar trouble before?

I’m attaching photos, maybe you can see something I’m not seeing!

IMO both these look like pressure from the hard mould in the left ear.
Right ear again looks like pressure possibly from short or ill fitting tubes.

You can get soft moulds made from non allergenic silicone. I’ve worn both hard and soft moulds, give me ones made from silicone any day, they are soft and comfy right from the word go.

Take a look at the Phonak hook and the length of the tube. Apply some Vaseline in the morning near the hook area. As for inside the ear pinna, clean it with soap and water when you take your bath. Dry & Apply alcohol to clean it and apply some antibiotics when you go to sleep.
If you are allergy to silicone or acrylic, the other ear will also be affected.

I use Garamycin cream. It worked before and hopefully, I’ll work this time!

When the tube was longer than how it is now, the hearing aid didn’t setlte in its place behind the ear!

Important is to clean the wounds with Dettol then wpie clean with alcohol, Then apply Gentamicin. 3-4 times a day. It should take care of the problem.

As for the tube, cut about 2-3 mm longer and used a mirror to adjust so the does not hang loose. Slowly cut 1mm and check, until it fit nicely on the top of the ear.

The left mold needs to come out until that is healed, or you need to go into the audiologist and get it ground right down so that it’s not touching. Could have been a poorly fitting mold, or could have been poor insertion such that the helix portion was not fully in causing a pressure point. Ouch.

The left is rubbing for some reason. It doesn’t look as bad. I’d still go in and see if you can have the hook or the tubing adjusted. You may also be able to put a bit of moleskin over that part of the hearing aid while it heals.

You don’t sleep in your hearing aids, do you? That can also cause some odd pressure points. Odd that it starts after a year of wear. Any other things on your body taking damage all of a sudden?

I had the same problem in my left ear last year. I had the earmold polished twice. I think I get this problem during the summer as I don’t recall it happening in the winter!
By the way, I change the tubes by myself

Hot and humid, any skin tear will result in a skin infection. keep dry with a tissue and clean with soap and water during showering. Dry and apply some alcohol to keep the ear clean.
