Greetings I’m new to the forum. I purchased a pair of Oticon OPN1off of eBay. I would like to obtain the Oticon programming software and necessary hardware to set them up myself. I have already bought the little wire pigtail to connect, I remember reading that I needed another type of programmer between this little wire guy and my computer but I cannot find that thread. I also noticed that the PVC school links are not active. I got my hearing checked yesterday and the onsite Audiologist wants $200 each to program them, I am very technical and able to learn but I could use some direction here.

Hi there, great your giving a go, be sure to do some research and read the user guides before starting,as this’ll make things easier to set up the first time, you’ll need the Noahlink wireless programming device as well for your DIY projects, so not sure what the little “wire pigtail to connect” is all about? What type of OPN1 are you using?

Wire pigtail is called a flex strip, it slides into the hearing aid behind the battery door, has three copper conductors. In terms of the type of OPN 1, it is a behind the ear hearing aid. I believe the intermediate “box” between the flex strip and computer is supposed to be a Hi Pro programmer or a Sonic Express Link programmer.

Oh you’ve got and not the , yea the correct terminology is flex connecter, when using those you also need the CS44 cable that the flex strip connects to, but anyways why you want to go down that path, OPN onwards can use Noahlink wireless, unless you have the Non wireless model?
You say you brought these of eBay, how will you get them to fit your ears as they need to have a custom shell made.

I think he has the - those can’t be programmed wirelessly from what I’ve read. Wasn’e the OPN S the first one that had that feature? I think the OP is going to spend more on the fitting HW than what he paid for the aids

Can Oticon OPN 1 firmware be updated via Noahlink Wireless?
I read that Oticon OPN firmware updates were done only via cables connection. Is is still true, or can also be update using Noahlink Wireless?

For programming the Opn 1 you don’t need the pigtail wire. The ’s connect wirelessly to a Noahlink Wireless which is connected to your PC with a USB cable. Only if you need to update the HA’s firmware do you need the pigtail wire and also a Hi-Pro box. The Oticon Mores and later models can be firmware upgraded wirelessly.
