Anyone working in loud dog kennel using hearing aids to hear clients talking?

I have a friend who owns a dog day care/boarding facility, and she wears hearing aids. What’s your question? I might see her today, if I do, I’ll ask her if she’s on the forum.

I’m a trainer working in a large kennel… need hearing aids… I am drawn towards Phonak but two audiologists are pushing towards starkey or odicon… their reviews don’t seem that great for louder background noise cancellation… I feel like i’m at a car dealership trying to buy a pickup and being pushed towards a lamborgini… Thanks for any help.

Some hearing aids have a trial period. You might consider asking your audiologist about this. Then wear them for some time (but less than the trial period) to see if they work for your situation. I’ve never returned hearing aids myself as I’ve only had one set (last four years), and they worked for me. Does anybody know how the trail periods work? I’m imaging after you get the hearing aids, the audiologist would try to help you adjust them rather, accepting them back only as a last resort.

I don’t have any issues when dropping my cat off to a kennel & there are dogs barking. I am also fine hearing speech next to machinery/kettle/coffee mc etc. I have custom Widex Moment 440 and the sound classes & automatic adjustments dampen loud/intrusive noises whilst allowing speech to be heard. I didn’t have any adjustments made for this-just Widex standard set up of sensogram/vent size/feedback calibration etc. If this protocol isn’t followed it affects results.
