Oticon Grip Tips for Oticon Intent 2 - advice please!

My research indicates 2 sizes, Small & Large, but I don’t know which to choose. Nor, do I know if either size will fit my 100db receiver.

My left (bass dbl vented dome, 10mm) keeps slipping out. Right HA is OK. 12mm dome is too large! I guess I need an 11mm dome but Oticon does not provide. I tried retention clips but they don’t work for me. I think the Grip Tip may work since it has stickiness to prevent slipping and they come double vented but size mm is not specified.

Does anyone know the mm size of the small and larger grip tips and whether either will fit a 100db receiver? Also, any other experienced advice would be appreciated.

BTW, I have an appointment with my Audi on 8/18/25 but was hoping to educate myself with any feedback before then.

From my own experience:

  • Try domes from other brands. They are largely interchangeable.
  • Try different receiver wire lengths. This made all the difference for me. With a longer receiver wire, I was able push the receiver deeper into the ear canal leading to better retention and better sound.

I use Grip Tips with both 85db and 100db receivers. My ear canals are different sizes so I use a small in one ear and a large in the other. They are a bit fiddle to insert and I find that a very small dab of hand cream helps. The physical size is difficult to define as they are tapered and oval in shape. If it helps I replaced a 12mm dome with a large grip tip and a 10mm dome with a small one.

I’ll discuss other dome brands with my audi on 8/18. Good idea!

I’ve tried standard and longer wire lengths. Neither worked for better retention. Sound, of course, was better with receiver deeper in the canal rather than in a relaxed position just outside the canal.

Good to know the Grip Tips will fit the 100db reciever. And, your definition of the mm size is very helpup and confirmed my hunch (small for 10mm and large for 12mm). In my case, I only need to order for the left ear canal. The right is ok, assuming I can continue to use the 10mm dome with the Grip Tip in the left.

Were your grip tips vented or non-vented? I was thinking to obtain the vented to minimize occlusion (as my bass double vented domes did).

Also, did the tackiness help with retention? Any difficuly removing them due to the tackiness?

Another idea I’ve read about is cutting slices into the edge of the too-large dome a small bit to allow it to collapse a bit and fit better. You’d need to experiment how much to cut. I’d go for custom tips. myself. I wear titanium slimtips, and have for about 3 1/2 years.

My grip tips are non-vented. They stay in my ears very well but you need to take care taking them out. Very gentle pull in the correct direction. A couple of times I pulled the receiver out and left the grip tip in. Then I just pulled the grip tip out with tweezers.

Looking at your , why are you not wearing custom molds?
Get the best out of your aids without all the hassle of grip tips, and domes of various sizes.
You could get a large enough vent to not miss the low frequencies, and get a lot more gain for your highs w/out feedback concerns, and no slipping!

Everyting you say sounds great. Years ago I had Widex in the cancel hearing aids and experienced trouble (popping sounds). The audi remade the molds several times with no improvement. All with the left ! The right HA was fine.

Because of this experience, once HAs arrived I have used domes and never felt comfortable moving back to custom molds (albeit I’m told today molds are more better). In the past, I was so disappointed with my Widex HAs I stopped wearing them!

I am willing to try them again as a last resort. That said, your observation is appreciated and perhaps my audi and I will agree to try custom molds for the left ear canal (assuming that is possible while I continue to use domes in the right ear).

Do you use custom molds today? If so, please share your experience with them so I can seriously consider them. Than you for your feedback.
