How to select active bluetooth connections on Phonak Infinio

According to the documentation, the Phonak Infinio supports up to 8 paired devices with two devices active. How do I choose which devices should be active? I just installed an Avantree TV connector and it worked for a while and then didn’t. I don’t see how to select the bluetooth pairings I want the to pay attention to.

Sometimes, if devices you are paired to are all within range, it confuses the hearing aids about which device to connect actively. Likewise, if you’re listening to your TV as you walk away to do something else, distance may cause the connection to drop. Some people solve the “war of the devices” by un-pairing from all but the myPhonak app and, in this case, the TV. It’s kind of a hassle, but it might solve your situation.

If I had two phones or tablets connected and a third device (say a tv connector) paired, and wanted to connect to the third device, here’s what I’d do:
Go to the connected device I’d prefer not to be connected to. I’d pick the iPad and go to bt in settings, and ask that device to disconnect. Then try the TV…

I use phonak TV Connectors, they don’t use BT, they use a proprietary method of connecting and it doesn’t fall into the “2 bt connections” formula.

A question about the Phonak TV connector: my wife watches TV a lot; I watch infrequently. With the Phonak connector, can I choose when to tune in to the TV sound and when to ignore it? I wouldn’t want the TV to be in my ears every time I went near the living room. :slight_smile:

Yes, your should set the activation signal from the TV connector only after the beep and then confirmation by you through pushing the button.

Yes, you must connect it with the Toslink connector. With that you have independent volume control or you can just turn the TV connector off if you don’t want to hear the TV.

My solution is pretty primitive. I just turn Bluetooth off on the devices I don’t want to use. For example, if I am using my iPad and my hearing aids are also connected to my phone, I will make sure that that Bluetooth on my laptop is switched off. That approach may not work in some situations but since I do not have anywhere near eight devices paired and active, it works for me.

Is there a best source for getting a Phonak TV connector? Amazon has several things they call the Phonak connector with widely varying prices, and I don’t trust Amazon to get the real thing.

Here is a used one on Ebay for $99.95. Considering that there is a return period, this might not be a bad choice. I have 3, all purchased on Ebay. Unfortunately, the picture does not show a Toslink cable which you would probably need to get elsewhere.

The Phonak TV connectors on Amazon start at about $200 which is a reasonable price for a new device.

Great idea! I’ll try plugging the connector into an Alexa-controlled socket.
