I’m curious how is done for people who use Activent receivers.
I would think you need to do two passes - one with the vent open and one while it’s closed. Is that standard procedure?

Do you self program? Is there even an option in Target to deliberately close the vent for the purposes of ?
Otherwise it would mean that Phonak is making certain assumptions regarding how the acoustic properties of one’s ear canal change with the vent closed vs open. That would seem sub-optimal…

I’m curious about this. Logic tells me it should be done with the open setting: i don’t think it is possible to simulate a loud noisy environment next to the equipment . But that’s just my theory.

I think it should be performed in an open state, saved in programs like Calm Situation, and then performed in a closed (occluded) state and obtained, applying it to the streaming and Speech in (Loud) Noise and Spheric Speech Clarity programs.
Maybe @Neville and @Um_bongo have more knowledge about that issue.

You don’t need to do in noise, you can just flip to the closed vent program.
And yes, it hasn’t come up much for me but I verified in both. I don’t actually run into that many candidates.

Yes. The vent is only closed in certain subprograms and honestly, many prefer manual control over it, so you verify it closed in the manual program (or the automatic subprogram) to noise targets.
