Apple iOS and Signia Hearing App- How Do You Like It?

Hi All!
I searched for, but did not find, this topic. I hope you don’t mind my asking here.

Situation:
The phone I have is Android. It does not play well with either the Signia or the TruHearing apps. (The TruHearing app is a clone of the Signia app.) The phone is Lenovo Motorola Moto G Stylus maxed out at Android 11. (3 Years old).

App Problems:
Loses connection often. Trouble re-connecting. Freezes often. Won’t open.

Streaming Problems:
Will not stream or allow phone calls. (Lenovo said they have no intention of issuing an update to allow streaming. But, of course, they sent links for new phones that will stream.)

Maybe iPhone Instead:
I’ve no objection to jumping ship on Android and switching to Apple for a new phone.

But before I do…
I’m writing to ask if any of you have used the Signia or the TruHearing app for iOS on an iPhone and how it works for you. Oddly, the App Store showed “Not enough reviews”, so none were available to view.

It depends on which Signia device.
If you are talking about IX , a good Android (Samsung S23 and higher I think , Pixels 7,7 pro or higher) that supports will give you good results.

Motorola is not known to support (Signia only lists 2 Moto compatible models). Hence, the issues you describe are due to the fact that you are not using a compatible phone. Truth is, Motorola addresses the low/mid-low price Android market and removes as many features as possible to make their devices affordable (The Razr and some Edge models are the exception).

The Signia app is pretty much the same on both IOS and Android. The IOS version is stable.

My Rexton Reach are Signia clones and they play very well with iOS, I have them paired with 2 iPads and 2 iPhones and can switch between them without unpairing or without turning off Bluetooth.

It was interesting to learn from OcramSagev that Motorola (Lenovo) removes features on the lower priced phones. Per Motorola, the hardware in my phone is compatible but the programming in the phone isn’t. I guess they want one to spend more to get more. Such is life with marketing.

Thanks to all for comments of which phones work- Android and iOS. I appreciate the help.

Mobility is one of my passions, I spent some years in this industry in Silicon Valley as a strategist , engineer and product manager executive.

Motorola was a very good premium brand but after the RAZR, they “lost it” and sold the business to google, who couldn’t make the biz profitable. 2 yrs later, the biz was sold to Lenovo. Lenovo now runs their mobility biz like the PC business – affordable devices that can do the job without premium whistles and, in the US, they target pre-paid carriers mostly. I recently bought a Moto Power 5G for $75 , I have no use for it but I couldn’t resist the price.

I thought was a standard feature of Android but, after seeing this Moto forum, not all their devices have ASHA. I learned this today :slight_smile:

In the link you posted, someone commented that their phone is on the supported list, but does not have . According to Motorola’s current list, mine is supported, but technical support confirmed that it is not supported. Marketing Magic!

Motorola branded Lenovo advertising is pretty good about stretching the truth. My phone was advertised as having a wide angle camera lens. The pretty ads showed lots of lovely wide angle photos. Well… Wide angle is only available in Video Mode. One must take a video, find the frame and screen shot it. Next, convert the screenshot to JPEG or which ever format your choose except RAW. (Marketing = Takes photos in RAW. Real life = Nope)

The phone was also advertised as taking photos of various resolutions “from postcard size to poster size”. The smallest it can take is a huge 2.8 MB in file size. That’s 41.67 inches x 55.56 inches. What a postcard that would make!

When I asked about the “various resolutions”, I was told to take the smallest photo and use a photo app to reduce the file size.

Therefore, if anyone stumbles upon this thread while deciding if a Lenovo Motorola phone will be purchased, be certain that it can be returned if a bragged about feature (such as ASHA) isn’t really present.
