Tinnitus masking on or off for Phonak Sphere

My audiologist has set tinnitus masking to be on. I am just wondering if it has any negative effect on the performance of the hearing aid?

I have worn hearing aids for the last 35 years and I am fairly certain I have never had this function on if there was one.

I have a meeting tomorrow with my audiologist and was wondering whether I should get him to turn it off.

I don’t know what is available for sphere/infinio. I had a program for my paradise aids that put pink noise over the calm program. It didn’t run in streaming, or any other programs. The tinnitus program is incompatible with the activevent receivers, so when I went to the activevents, the tinnitus program turned into a plain calm program. I have the activevents with my spheres, so the topic never came up.

It may be enabled but not active. For my Oticon hearing aids, I have to switch programs to use the tinnitus mode (it’s enabled - a program exists, but not active unless I use that program). Could Phonak be the same?

I couldn’t get on with Tinnitus masking at all. My wife could hear it across the room. To me, it just added another noise. I find hearing aids, generally, mask my Tinnitus anyway.
