Bluetooth audio routing

My Signia C&G hearing aids are now working very well, thanks to help I have had from this site. I can nuse my TVstreamer, and hear other people, traffic and outside sounds. But one problem I still have is that when I receive calls my Xiaomi 15T Pro immediately shows the Bluetooth icon but I can hear nothing in my hearing aids. If I switch to either the Speaker icon or the phone icon I can hear the caller but not very loud. I am guessing it is to do with the audio routing and have tried various settings in the Developer options but it has not helped. Once again I would appreciate any help/advice.

Very interesting Video and thanks for sharing. I don’t think however that it solves my problem that no audio goes to my phone when the Bluetooth icon is showing. I will try changiing some of the options in Developer settings.

I had a similar issue with my iPhone 14 . I have Resound Aids. When my speaker option was set to stream to my aids, the person on the other end of tha call could not hear me. If I switched to speaker I was able to solve the audio issue. It was a routing issue. As soon as I changed the routing setting all was good.

We both seem to have had similar problems?!! But you have helped me with all. Thanks. Can I ask you to tell me just how you altered the routing settings? I have tried messing about(!!) with the Developer options but have not had any success.

If that phone is running android, go to Settings > Accessibilty > Hearing Devices. Pair your with the phone, and and your aids.

I think the Signia C&G uses (Audio Streaming for Hearing aids) so you’ll be able to hear incoming callers, but need the phone’s mic to speak, no 2 way hands-free.

Please double check, because I don’t have Signia, or the Xiaomi phone, so I could be wrong, because the latest phones and HAs have , which allows hands-free.

On your iphone screen there is a green bubble that displays talk time and shows a audio bar the displays your voice print when you talk. Click on the bubble and follow the instructions below this message.

  • When you’re on a call and leave the Phone app,
    look at the top-left corner of the screen.

  • Tap the :green_circle: green oval bubble with the call timer :stopwatch:.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: This brings you back to the in-call screen.

:speaker_high_volume: Step 2 — Tap “Audio”

  • On the call screen, look for the “Audio” button.
    (Looks like a small speaker icon or says “Audio”).

  • Tap it once.

A menu pops up with a list like:

  • :white_check_mark: iPhone → normal earpiece (top mic)

  • :white_check_mark: Speaker → loudspeaker (bottom mic)

Does the iPhone 17 do any better than the iPhone 16 in terms of the quality of the sound in the hearing aid, ie, is it understandable, and not tinny or echo-ey?? Does anyone know?

The iPhone 17 has Bluetooth 6.0; the iPhone 16, and several previous versions, has 5.3.

I would think that it may have the same problems I am having with the iPhone 16: I can’t really do phone conversations into the , except for a few extremely short conversations—if that. I can’t hear what’s being said much, because the sound isn’t clear.

Now I have a problem: I have a Mac computer (and data from previous Mac computer), a fairly new iPhone, and an Apple Watch, which I have in part for the fall detection, plus access of data when using my phone would be impractical.

As it is now, I can only do phone calls on speakerphone, or very brief ones on my Apple Watch. And the same would go for streaming music, tv, podcasts, radio, anything!

Yikes, I had no idea about this issue!! I wish I knew if Apple would change this, so it works and can do on the next model. Even following rumors wouldn’t help; besides the lack of accuracy, who would be reporting on these features? No one, I’m sure! Plus that won’t be until next September!

My phone does have . Could I stream from my phone via Auracast, and from a tv, or my computer? I’ll have to try it out.

You wrote earlier in a post you have iPhone 16? That doesn’t . The apps for some support acting as an agent to support access to auracast sent by other devices, but that isn’t support for the iPhone sending auracast. There’s a possibility Apple will slide it into a minor update to iOS, but I’m not hopeful in all truth, for seeing it before a year from now.

Oh, now I’m not sure. I thought it did, because in the Jabra app. if had an icon that was looking for . I didn’t realize that that doesn’t mean the iPhone 16 has Auracast. I’m not absolutely sure that it doesn’t, but you are probably right.

In which case, I am right where I ended my post above:

As I mentioned, my computer, phone, and watch are all Apple, so things wouldn’t work smoothly if I got an Android. And I just bought the phone and watch recently, which were large expenses. I would like to know if Apple will likely come out with next year, but who knows?

It does have Bluetooth 6.0.

I wish that I’d known this was the case before I bought all of the devices. I already had my computer, but . . .

Are you missing anything right now because you don’t have it? There are devices discussed on the forums here that will let your phone or computer send le audio or . I don’t think you’ll find out much good about the watch, as far as connecting to your aids.
