New Phonak Target update, New firmware available for Infinio

It was the best move I could have ever made. It put me in front of the best audiologist that I could ever dream about having. And the move placed me back to where I love being out in a forest with mother nature.
WOW! That is inspiring! I’m so glad you found your Nirvana here!

I’m not convinced it’s advantageous from a battery life standpoint (probably, though). One thing turning Bluetooth off here does that IS: off, it prevents every website on the planet from capturing your hearing aids and switching them to streaming audio “just in case” you intend to click on their ad or watch their un-asked-for imbedded video. For me, scrolling through social or actual media on my phone, that is by far the most maddening experience. I personally need to communicate with my aids far less than advertisers I encounter imagine I want to communicate with them… so if I’m doom-scrolling or trying to read an article from a major media source I turn Bluetooth off so that I can a) still hear what’s going on in the room, and b) my aids aren’t ducking in and out of streaming mode as I scroll past.

My audiologist said Infinio Sphere users would get THIS ( emphasis) upgrade for free. Which I interpreted as that the next one would not be free or not for IS users.
It could be they use the Ultra name for people who bought it as Ultra and are eligible for future upgrades.

Battery life is insane. It was good before but having streamed, Roger On’d, been to a football match with stupidly loud music (and they never missed a beat) I am at 62% after 16 hours!
I think they sound crisper too. Loving this update

I’m still learning my way around the Target software, but I’m pretty sure that you / your audiologist can name (rename) these to what ever you like - using the Target software.

I think a good question to ask your audiologist if you are trialling the Infinio Sphere (non Ultra) is “with the launch of the Ultra, has the “non Ultra” version entered its long term product support stage in its life?”
My suspicion is that since Phonak have renamed the Infinio Sphere to Infinio Sphere Ultra is that the answer to this question is “yes” and in which case I would suggest that if you have the option, return the old Infinio Spheres and get the Ultra version. Don’t settle for a software update - it will still be”officially” a non Ultra version.
Just my opinion.

Dunno… So far, I haven’t seen anything to indicate that an upgraded Sphere is any less “Ultra” than a newly-bought Ultra - has anyone else?
I imagine that some of these mysteries will be resolved in the near future - I have to believe that Phonak has been getting a fair number of WTFs, and will come out with some clarifications before mobs of pitchfork-wielding audiologists and their clients converge on their headquarters.

Pardon, I don’t understand the question? I am DIYer, so I have bought Sphere from Wholesale Hearing (which is in your country) this year, at the end of the February. I can’t return it, but I’ve got a five-year warranty.
I think that the “Ultra” is just marketing gimmick to announce firmware update (which is indeed massive), nothing more.

The ultra is the same hardware as the previous version. It is only a firmware upgrade and the previous version is getting the upgrade.

Fire ware update only or not - Phonak have changed the name. This implies to me (IMHO) that it is classed as a new product making the Infinio Sphere in essence obsolete. I may be wrong, but I would check with your Audiologust. That’s all that I am saying. I hope I am wrong !!

If it was obsolete Phonak wouldn’t bother to provide the firmware update for the product. All they have done with the older product in stocks is update the the firmware and then sell it as the new product it makes for go9d business sense and customer satisfaction. I don’t have Phonak aids at this time I will be talking to my audiologist the first Monday in November. I now wear Oticon INTENT1 aids and Oticon hasn’t done that for any customers that I know of.

I just upgraded Target to 11.1. I then followed the very simple steps to install the Ultra upgrade. Super easy! Now to see if it makes

Exactly. I am grateful they listened. The receiver change fix helped me so much.
And swapping to moulded inserts has improved my paradise p 90R hearing aids so much.
@Neville and members here thank you.

Yes - and the audiologist needs to be running Phonak Target version 11.1 in order to update your Infinios.
