Supplement Phonak Audeo L50-RT's with OTC hearing aids?

My Phonak L50-RT’s are due for 3-yr warrantied refurbishing in Feb. 26. However, I have noticed in the last year, that increasingly the charge is not lasting even a full 10-12 hours. So, I was wondering if (post refurbishing - or even now!) I can make them last longer if I use with a far more reasonably priced for the latter part of my day. If so, which would be the brand(s) you would recommend to a Canadian user? Thanks.

You don’t post your audogram so it’s hard to say if are even suitable, but why not just send the Phonaks in now? The battery’s are stuffed as they are ,so no point in waiting until February? They could be completely dead by then, save yourself some dollars.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I’ll have to learn how to create an , as I don’t have one. The batteries still work, and as long as I remember to recharge for approx. 15 minutes during the day, they are fine! My assumption - which may or may not be correct - is that even after warrantied refurbishing (presumably with new batteries), the battery longevity problem will eventually re-occur. So I was hoping to know if - in principle and/or in practice - it is feasible to “stretch” the life of batteries with use of ’s.

Writing “refurbishing”, you mean this which is described in that short video?

Yes. that is my understanding from my recent discussion with RHIP - and we had specifically discussed replacement of batteries.

I think this ‘two-device strategy’ will be a very effective way to make your current aids last longer and keep you hearing well throughout the entire day.

For example, AirPods Pro X cannot be set up as HAs in Canada, but I’ve heard there’s a workaround if you activate them in the US (but Apple explicitly says the HA functionality is not supported your country).

OTC hearing aids usually require an Android or iOS app for setup, and that app might not be available in Canada because the Canadian government has not approved them yet.

OTC HAs are for mild to moderate hearing loss only.

Can I Purchase Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids in Canada?
