Besides a new firmware update is the Phonak Sphere's & Phonak Ultra's the same?

I’ve had the Phonak Spheres for about a week now. Then now I’m finding out that Phonak just introduced the Phonak Ultra’s. I see that Phonak has an update for the Sphere’s, does this update turn the Sphere’s into the Ultra’s? Does the Ultra’s have anything new that is not on the Sphere’s? If so what are the differences? Trying to decide if I need to return the Sphere’s and get the Ultra’s, I have 30 return period. Thanks in advance!

As for as my research that taken me the hardware is the same and only the firmware has been upgraded. You should be good when your audiologist updates the firmware of your aids.

Yeah, I called Phonak and the person that helped me really didn’t know unfortunately. She told me that the are not same even after the firmware update.

Just updated firmware. Your audiologist can update them. It takes about 5 to 7 minutes. This should be a free update if you go to the clinic that sold them to you.

It’s also not what Phonak support told me - they told me:

Phonak Ultra hearing aid is an upgrade for existing Phonak Infinio and Infinio Sphere hearing aids that uses a software/firmware update.

So we don’t have to panic. Or at least not about that!

Is this update coming via the app ?? Or does the audiologist needs to update ??

I’m asking as I have them to try out and about to go for them..See my firmware is at 1.1.11.0 but doesn’t say Ultra so better to ask here ..next week going back to go say yes as I’m very satisfied with them..If this ones don’t have the ultra upgrade yet if you can tell me I can ask them there to update .

your hearing aids do have 1.1.11.0 firmware version so you have the “Ultra” upgrade firmware.

Yeah strangely Phonak decided to sell this firmware update like a new hearing aids. It’s like Apple would sell new iPhone each new iOS version get released !

What phonak did was update the aids with new firmware, Phonak is updating the older version to the newer firmware for free. Now what the audiologist charge is a different story. My Spheres are from the and haven’t been updated yet. But they will be this spring. The Ultra version is the same hardware as the previous version.

You’re already on Ultra - the app gives the version number but doesn’t show a name change.

You can also tell your have been upgraded by your immense social cachet, self confidence, and effortless coolness.

Thanks…I really love this Phonak .gonna be my first …next week getting the TV streamer.

Already tested the Widex TV streamer and it’s really great sound and my wife can adjust the TV volume to her liking. Only 1 thing I noticed in the app..when I adjust the volume and set the right channel 1 touch higher after a while the left also goes 1 higher ..no matter how often I adjust , it always does level out with the other??!

Also I lost connection once or twice in this test period..one time I even unistalled the app and started all over , but haven’t had it since. As I said ..great product..def. a keeper..expensive though.:hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed: .hoping my insurance will cover most of it..we’ll see :folded_hands:
