I don’t know about your tonal audiogram, but clipping can be avoided by choosing more powerful receiver (for example, from M to P).
It wasn’t that the receiver wasn’t capable of generating the amplification needed, it was the compression/limiting parameters that the Target software generated for my - which are aimed more for hearing speech than for music. For the separate music program, that was changed to be able to use the full of the receivers as needed without any software compression or limiting.
No, I wish I had one. Unfortunately Phonak don’t offer silicone ones, which would be practical with UP receivers and thus improving feedback threshold.
I currently have titanium cShell with 0.9 mm vent and UP receiver.
I have the “M” receiver. Haven’t considered trying the P. Do you think I should?
You’re theoretically eligible for even UP receiver, which could help with achieving more gain in the highest frequencies. But that’s only a suggestion, not pushing you.
I am theoretically not in the fitting range of UP, but it seems to be beneficial compared to P. I don’t hear any circuit noise.
The only drawback is it is not isolating from noise as much as power domes M size with P receiver. And I could push power domes deeper.
After your suggestion, I bought a pair of the P receivers. Never tried them before. I must say I’m surprised by the benefit I have received from them. It’s hard to describe it, but the sound is just fuller, richer and deeper. And I seem to have more distinguishable differences in the quality of the sound each time I make any adjustments. I’ve been able to dial them in very quickly compared to the M receiver. And as you said they fit just fine in my custom molds.

That were exactly my experience also, when I changed from M to P in April. Even when I simply changed on the street without adjustment in Target which took place a few hours later.

I am not sure why it’s happen, probably its because it is less saturated by everyday souds, provide better low frequency amplification due to larger membrane and larger housing, which is more occluding in ear canal. Wonder what you have set. There is article about big role of MPO in hearing in noisy conditions:
Additional thoughts:
These articles emphasize the important role of a sufficiently high MPO, especially when hearing in noise. Note that theemphasize the important role of a sufficiently high MPO, especially when hearing in noise. Note that the first article presents a situation with an SNR of +15 dB speech in noise, so quite favorable, but with too weak receiver intelligibity can be poor.
Music should be better too because of low frequency gain and its broader dynamic range.
Have you tried taking after the change?
Great earmold, feel a bit envious about it, I wonder how /REOG graphs looks like with them along with REAG and .
@Rambo26, another argument for P receiver! (and just writing answer for yor issues too!)
I have not. No Audiologist near where I live is willing to offer it as a service. I continue to look for one.
I have had it performed about three times (each by a different Audi) over the past decade or so. Last one maybe five years ago when I was wearing Marvels with rubber domes. It helped. But honestly by using AudioDirect and experimenting with and Gains with each different program I believe I have as good a result as possible. But I am sure a competent Audio using and then careful tuning could have gotten me there quicker. YMMV.
