Sounds like you are doing great.
That time period between surgery and activation sure drags slowly when you are excited about activation. Seemed like forever for me.

also no side effects, with the exception of tinnitus, which increased.
My tinnitus increased from surgery as well. Thankfully I rarely have tinnitus when the processors are on.
Good luck with activation. If you hear anything you are on the road to better hearing.

I had the same concerns as you. All were discussed with the implant team and reassurance given. My biggest concern was that they wouldn’t,’t work. They did! The pure joy at switch on when I could hear what the audiologist was saying. Over the moon doesn’t begin to cover it. Now 3 months in and going from strength to strength. Good luck with your journey

The last 2 weeks took for ever, it felt like 6 months. I made it today was my activation day, and I guess I’m on the road to better hearing, because I am hearing things. Right from the start I was hearing things like when the audiologist was getting things ready and moving around, voice recognition is going to take time and work… voices are very very tinny sounding to the point of extremely hard to understand. However after a 1/2hr of her speaking and while showing how everything works, towards the end I did start picking out a few of her words. I’m going to do whats necessary and put in the time to make it work. I came home with a nice looking MODEL backpack stuffed full of goodys, I am like a kid on Christmas day.

Congratulations!! I am so excited for you. Definitely sounding (pun intended) that you are off to a better start initially than me. I got “noise” and “sound” but couldn’t make sense of words. SO excited for you!!

Congratulations, hearing environmental sounds is amazing, the birds tweeting, wretched cicadas constant noise, just everyday sounds. You possibly haven’t heard these sounds for years. I can remember standing in my kitchen hearing a noise, I was turning circles trying to find what I was hearing. I had to ask my son where was the noise coming from? He looked at me stupidly and said the only noise he could hear was the fridge motor. All these new sounds you have to relearn what they sound like now. Good luck on your new hearing journey.

I can sure relate to this. It was this way my first year if not longer. Drove my wife crazy asking her what a sound was.
is a learning experience for sure!

So excited for you! Sounds like a great start and it will get better quickly! Wear them from when you wake til you sleep and let that sound puzzle settle into understanding.
