I woke up 3 weeks ago, not being able to hear the startup chimes on my ..I thought I’d had another SSHL in my L) ear this time. The tinnitus was very loud also. I went to see my GP,and got told he didn’t think it was a SSHL because of the large wax build up. I couldn’t figure this out as I’d been using “clean ears spray” given to me by my audiologist early this year. I’d been using it for months. GP said to use wax softener and come back in a weeks time
I went to the chemist for some Waxsol, used it twice a day and went back to the GP for syringing. He syringed my ear for 10 minutes with no result! I then purchased Waxsol with hydrogen peroxide in it. I was putting all of the above in my ears 3 times a day now. I went back 10 days later for him to syringe again. He syringed 4-5 times and said one more try. If this isn’t successful you’re off to the E&E hospital. Thank heavens he succeeded. One very large compacted glob of wax came floating out. It took a few hours to get used to hearing noise again, it seemed overly loud.
My R ear was clear no wax at all. Do any members do regular routine procedures for wax control? What do you do/use? How frequently do you do it? How successful is what you’re doing?
I would appreciate any info please.
