Widex allure app programs - where are they?

I’m using a new pair of Widex Allure , generally working OK but I still can’t fully understand speech on our TV at a moderate volume and depend on the TV program plugin for the Allure app for that. I’ve somehow deleted the TV program from the Allure app, and now only have the Universal program. My audiologist is away for Christmas so I can’t ask him. Does anyone know where I can find the program to reinstall it? I can reinstall the Allure app itself from GooglePlay (I have a Pixel 8 phone) but that only gives me the Universal program again, none of the others.

That’s odd—programs added by the audiologist through the programming software shouldn’t be able to be deleted, as far as I know, so it might be a bug in the app. I recall Dr. Cliff (I think it was him - not a fan of his BTW) mentioning in his review of the Allures that some programs he’d added had disappeared.

As @Gerhard_R ,the programming software requires a password that is only available to audiologists. So no standalone programming available to non-Widex partners.

If you’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and only the Universal program shows up, there’s probably nothing else to do except wait for the audiologist.

Exactly, you can’t “delete” a stored program in the through the App, why can’t you simply make another custom one in the App.

The pre-installed Hearing aid programms (by the audiologist) can not be deleted via the Allure App.

So you might have deleted a custom Personal Programm

It is possible that you add a new Personal Programm for TV , click here11 how to do

in Universal tap on “Adjust sound” and adjust the settings , then save as TV. Done.

Thanks. That all seems crazy, the audiologist didn’t tell me there was this degree of lockdown on the device before I bought it :frowning: I can understand limiting the owner’s ability to mess with the configuration, even if I don’t much like that - but making it so you can’t even reinstall software is too much dependence on the audiologist. Go on holiday? Bought a new phone? Contract term ended? There all kinds of reason why you might not have access to the audiologist. Like Christmas!

Yep but they just don’t care! the manufacturers as well of course, to bad if your totally dependent on your , although they did introduce remote support, but of course this is still totally dependent on your Audiologist being available when you need it!

Widex Compass Cloud is not compatible with the Widex Remote link . This means that the Allures cannot be programmed remotely. It seems the cloud version does not have many of the features of the standalone version and the patient has to go to the office .

Maybe this changed recently in the past weeks .

Holy cow true? Wow they totally messed up, the clinic’s won’t be happy with that either, actually I heard some ramblings from within that most clinics aren’t happy with what Widex has done with “cloud based only” maybe they’ll get the drift and put into reverse gear..

It gets worse:
No NAL-NA2 and no DLSv5 (Only Widex fitting formula).
Most Widex accessories are not compatible.
No Sensogram (in-situ measurements).
No Zen programs for tinnitus.
The / cannot look at the programming unless the are connected.
And of course, no

It seems they released the software too early but who knows.

That’s just completely nuts, I never knew how bad it actually was, thanks for sharing, as it stands there’s no way any Audiologist worth their salt is going to recommend, with such limited features available in compass, it’s completely crippled!

I see Widex Compass Cloud as an early indicator of where manufacturers will go with their HA fitting software - they will all be Internet-based for programming HAs.

Frankly, I was astonished when I got HAs in 2020 to find that all manufacturers’ HA fitting software was still local PC based. When I look at Microsoft’s Office 365 software which is steadily heading into being “cloud based”, then the future looks poor for PC-based local software.

Maybe this is worthy of its own discussion thread?

No definitely not, what’s “broken” or doesn’t work with PC software, or what or how/why is “cloud based” better? As it’s completely crippled right now and doesn’t compare to PC software. This is what happened when so many people got brainwashed into thinking that “internet tv/streaming” is better, look where that’s gone, just absolutely saturated with the most mind boggling garbage advertising, it’s even invading our own personal emails! now with everyone just “doom scrolling” the internet

Ah, thank you, now I understand the confusion. I got a Widex TV Play 2 box with my , the box streams TV audio to my phone via bluetooth, and the Widex app should then forward the stream to my HAs. Unless there is something I don’t know about bluetooth settings (which is quite likely) I need the app to do the forwarding, and I thought that was part of the TV Play program which has vanished.

I can set directionality and equalizer settings like you suggest, but the fundamental problem is that my old TV is not great and the case tends to resonate a little with low frequencies, which makes understanding hard for me. Getting the sound ouput direct solves that in a way that the HAs on their own can’t.

I just re-paired the with the TV Play 2 box and the TV Play program reappeared within the app. Now I feel completely dumb :frowning:

Thank you everyone! I think I will start a separate thread for other problems I’m having with the Widex Allures, and see if there are equally simple solutions for those.
