Hi folks,

I need to replace the receivers on my phonak 50s and Marvel 90 s . My original as prescribed by the audiologist are have 2M printed on them . I’m looking on eBay and they usually have just side ,S, M or P and length as 0, 1, 2 and 3 . Side is obvious:-) do I select M as my previous ones were or is there an advantage going for P ? Also I presume 0 1,2 and 3 have to do with the length . How do I know what length is what ? Hope this all makes sense. Would appreciate any advice especially on the P and M part . I have the software etc and a copy of the original programmed last year at specsavers . Thanks in advance.. Brendan

The hearing aid programming is set for the M receivers. Unless you have Target software you will need to stay the same.

The 2 on your 2M receivers is the length. So stick with that if you feel length is appropriate. If you want shorter you could try a 1, longer a 3. Stick with the M receivers.

As others have said , if you have 2M then stay with 2M

One thing to add: The original Marvels came with v4 receivers that use Cerushield (a horrible design in my opinion).

Phonak has upgraded those receivers to version 5.0, which utilize Cerustop wax guards. These guards represent a significant improvement. You might want to consider this when purchasing your next receivers. The wax guards disks that you may have will not be compatible (but if you have the sticks, the ignore my comments).

Thanks for the infor folks . I have the programming interface and the software ,I paid €4000 for the first set of 90s and circunstances have signignificantly chnged on the financial situation so it’s second hand from Ebay going forward . I have a saved ebay search and randomly bid if I’m luck I win . I have 3 sets now and paid significantly less for the other two pairs , I visit the audiologest every couple of years and they retest and adjust as required so I just copy the program and load it up to my spares .. I wear them 24/7 because of the tinitus so I can’t sleep without the sound . .:frowning: but sleeping with them tends to put too much stress on the resievers but one can’t have it all ! Re’ the cerustop ? My partner got a new set of Phonak latest model (another €4000) and they use the sticks an dthey appear to be a better design .They don’t get stuck on like the Ceristop ,luckily I have a trinocular microscope and can remove the stuck cerustops with the aid of a tiny pin without damaging the element . Just one other thing .. I was intending to stay with the 2M but when I saw the P I thought if it’s newer it must be better :slight_smile:

If you have the programming software and interface, you can check how close your gain curves are to the maximum power curve. If they’re very close, getting a P receiver might be a good idea. Otherwise, stay with the M.

P isn’t newer than M, it’s higher power than M. You should stay with M unless your hearing loss has worsened considerably. And if you do change from M to P then you will need to adjust the fitting using the fitting software.
