Since COVID, which increased my hearing loss, I have trouble understanding speech.
I am going to try to train my ears to hear better. Will it work? I hope so, and it’s worth a try.
I wonder if anyone else has done this? If so, are there any sites dedicated to this kind of therapy?
I could probably just listen to TED talks or the weather without captions, but if there is a site written by therapists, I might get results quicker.
Here is why I am hopeful.
I’m a pro musician, and after COVID the very high notes started sounding out of tune for me. (for the musicians, it started about 2 octaves above middle C.)
So I wrote a little “song” to train myself to hear the high notes, and they are actually getting better. If anyone wants it, it’s in MIDI format, and I’ll be glad to share.
So if I can train myself to hear the high notes in tune again, why can’t I train my ears to discriminate between similar sounding consonants in speech (like P and T or F and S and so many others).
Thanks
