Phonak Infinio Spheres 90 - Trouble adjusting to sounds

I just recently got the Infinio Spheres 90 from the Lumity. I’m having some trouble adjusting to how quiet everything is. They’re super quiet when I’m just in calm situations. My right hearing aid is also a lot more silent than my left hearing aid for some reason and it feels weird. I did ask for it to be louder and I thought it was okay until I left the office.

Also my voice sounds like I’m on the radio, all crackly. And sometimes my voice gets muted then randomly louder in different situations. (also I feel like I’m speaking myself hoarse volume-wise trying to hear my own voice but my family is saying I’m speaking normally so I’m so confused there lol). And the TV or the toilet flushing is insanely loud, like a prolonged clap with an echo. I do think they’re great in noisy situations, like I can hear voices more clearer than before. But in calm, normal situations, it feels off. The weird extreme shifts from silent to loud is giving me a massive headache. The best way I can describe it is it sounds like the filters are covered in some wax but I made sure they’re all cleaned and everything. It’s like muted and muffled.

I’m going back in two weeks to get them adjusted but I genuinely don’t think I can use them in the meantime. I also found that I have no idea how to explain my issues to my audiologist.

(oh and the music and tv sound awful :sob: I have to take a breather every 10 minutes from watching movies/shows because it’s sooo loud but also muffled at the same time. i tried adjusting w my app but nothing sounded right)

I have the Spheres, not Ultra Spheres, I am new to Phonak aids, as I have had Oticon aids for 15 years. I love the sound of the my Spheres. Music sound great too. You need to explain your issues to your audiologist. But I do admit that the Spheres are quieter than my Oticon INTENT1 aids. But the sound is wonderful, and my speech understanding is awesome.

It’s great to hear so many good things from others about Phonak Spheres. I can’t understand why I have so many problems with my Spheres and why the constant tweakings don’t improve the tinny/sharpness. That I have been diagnosed with endolymphatic hydrops causing ear pressure, probably doesn’t help either.:worried:

I ended up getting used to the sound, though there’s still some tweaks I definitely want to make for the calm situations. My voice still sounds soft and choppy and music is not sounding as well as my Lumity’s. And the car sounds are soooo loud.

But speech recognition in noisy places is unbelievably good, I used to never be able to hear the cashiers and now I hear them like they’re right beside me. I hear every word, it’s amazing.

I’d agree about the default TV streaming being too loud, I immediately use the app to take the volume down 2 steps and adjust the ambient 2-4 steps to the right for surroundings, if I’m streaming to myself I also mute the TV as this removes any crosstalk direct from the TV, this also allows my other half to communicate with me, if we want a deeper conversation we pause the TV (we are still learning to do this lol) as this puts the ’s back to standard auto mode, and as soon as we unpause streaming starts again . (I will discuss the streaming settings with the audiologist on the next visit), it’s definitely not a deal breaker though.
The more I use the HA’s the better they seem to get Spheric mode is awesome, not a replacement for working ears, but it does highlight voices in noise, yesterday I was working in a factory and spheric mode activated from people talking behind me, It’s like they were suddenly on my shoulder.

Biggest difference for sound quality was a change of domes (not gone full molds yet) for me as they sealed better and are now the new Easyguard ones, so far no changes as an added bonus.

Do you have UP receiver? You can request your to maximise your SpeechEnhancer fearture in AutoSense Calm program (and manual one) to the 20. The standard set is 16.

Another solution is adjusting G50 line gain for soft voices.

I have the M receiver, my audiologist said I could probably move up to the P one but it might be an issue because my ear canals are really small. Still going to ask :crossed_fingers:

Just to update, the issue ended up being that it was on Adaptive Phonak Digital for some reason and I had been on the v5 Pediatrics before. Audiologist switched back to the DSL one and everything sounds much more clearer :grin:
