On the music program guitar now has no issues and piano is good enough that my mind is more on the piano than the awful noise.
The best results I got with the Intents were using the fitting formula. You can reduce compression by increasing gain on the “loud” curve and decreasing gain on the “soft” curve. Then disable everything you can that doesn’t negatively affect your overall hearing experience—wind management, feedback management, etc. On the MoreSound Intelligence tab, disable Neural Noise Suppression, set Pinna to “Aware,” and change the microphone setting to omnidirectional. I wrote a post about how to craft a music program a couple of years ago—you could search for it if you think it might help.
I’ve now spent quite a bit of time with Target trying to fix the problems I’m experiencing when playing the piano (and acoustic guitar on the 3 higher strings) and it seems that nothing can be done. Even after turning off all possible processing it seems that the hearing aid software is still applying processing which mangles the sound beyond what is bearable.
I trialed the previous Phonak hearing aids (Lumity) and couldn’t get them to sound good enough for music either. I tried a few of my usual tricks to tweak the music program, but to no avail—my guitars sounded awful with the Lumity.
There are a lot of folks here who really enjoy music with the Spheres—maybe they could help you with them.
