ReSound ENZO IA - Any feedback from new owners?
135 replies4.5k viewsLast reply
As someone with severe/profound hearing loss who has been wearing hearing aids for 50 plus years I would be say they are the best hearing aids I have had.
They are the best I’ve ever owned, also. Not perfect, but they pack a good punch, and I am quite pleased with them.

One would think if the Resound ENZO 1A is the best aid you’ve ever owned, you follow that up with way more than “packs a good punch”. Like a detailed review of aid performance versus just a one liner.

I had my aids since mid-October 2025 and haven’t change the microphone filter yet.
I haven’t noticed any change in the aids since purchasing them to suggest that the filters need changing but am planning on changing them at the six month point i.e. in a couple of weeks.
I will report back when I have done so

I’m just 3 weeks with them, and I’m just a deaf user, not a scientist; everything that I could say beyond the comment that I have made will be somewhat contextual to my own experience and hearing loss profile. So click on my above, I’ve upgraded from the Resound Enzo Q (Model EQ 998) and when I say it packs more punch, I feel a significant increase in Gain, Clarity and Speech in Noise. I do not feel that I have got the most performance out of this aid yet so I will be having my audiologist make some further changes next week. But this is the first new hearing aid in several decades that I immediately knew I would keep.
All of this is subjective, so while I am happy, I do fully understand the realities (and heartbreak) of people and products that overpromise and underdeliver. I’d encourage anyone with a profile similar to mine to try Enzo IA and see if it is an improvement over their current .

Thank you very much, your sharing of the Resound Enzo IA has given me “hope”. I just had my latest hearing test last Friday. The audiologist has a high pitched voice and her comments on speech recognition indicate she was miffed because I told her that her high pitched voice was very difficult to understand. Additionally, she cut the testing short for speech recognition. I’m not worried about that because my very experienced fitter at Costco will test me again anyway when I have my appointment to consider buying the new Jabra E P MAX high power hearing aids.

Hi, I’m currently testing the Resound IA 9
(the top-of-the-line model) and have a few questions. My hearing care professional has transferred the settings from my old Resound Enzo Q5 hearing aids. My question is: is it better to start with a fresh setup? Overall, I feel good, but I’m having an issue with the fact that the Enzo IA doesn’t have a “wow” effect in noisy environments when it comes to speech. What has been your experience?

I’m not surprised at all, I didn’t get any “wow” factor as well when I tried them, Phonak seems to have better reviews for this with their sphere model’s.

Phonak is way behind Resound in terms of technology. With Resound, I have Live Listen on my iPhone, better Bluetooth connectivity, and . I can’t switch to the phone’s microphone during a call at all, and the people I’m talking to have complained that they can’t hear me because I’m using the hearing aid’s microphone during the call.

I’m not sure I can fully agree with this, but I’ll say that both ReSound and Signia are my favourite brands.

I can confirm that, the sound I get is atrocious, I can barely understand few words.
In contrast, Phonak Naida (Paradise or Lumity) are much better when it comes to microphone during a phone call, that is compared to Resound Enzo .

So is this a classic V - LEA Bluetooth thing or microphone placement, there’s certainly some complaints with Phonak having the same issue, especially in noisy environments.

I think both Phonak and Resound have the hearing aids microphone more or less in the same location (broadly speaking).
I think it has to do with sound processing in the , me thinking.
The sounds I get from Enzo is like EVERYTHING is amplified, in contrast, Naida does filter the ambient noises.
True, they all struggle in noisy environments, but, even then, the results are different.
In a nutshell, Phonak Naida is much better as a hands free HA compared to Resound Enzo .
Again, this is my personal experience, Phonak didn’t sponsor me, nor do I have anything against Resound. I am not for or against any brand, but I am after the best results from any hearing aids.

With regard the hand free phone call issue I have found with Resound Enzo IA that making calls from quiet environment was not an issue but in outdoor and noisy environments the person receiving my call would have a difficulty in hearing me.
The solution for me was to switch from the hearing aid microphone to the phone microphone i.e. not use the hand free option. I use an iPhone and this can be done for all calls rather than in call in the hearing devices control panel as per the final option in screen shot below

Probably it’s two microphones angle of alignment which is often too high (i. e. mics beamforming facing slightly upward) in style due to too long wire.
With , microphones alignment in more optimised and consistent.

Hi, I’m currently testing my new Resound EI998 IA hearing aids (top-of-the-line), and to be honest, I can already tell they’re an improvement over my previous ENZO EQ models. However, I’m wondering about one thing: is there any way to improve the focus on human speech with this model? Imagine this situation: there’s a family gathering in a large dining room at a restaurant. I step aside with my sister, and she speaks to me, but the hearing aids aren’t focusing on her speech at all—they’re picking up everything. I’m totally frustrated. Please tell me this is just a matter of settings that the audiologist can adjust…

See below a screen shot of the available listening programs for the Enzo iA
You can have up to four programs activated on this aid. You might find Hear in Noise options helps you in the situations you describe. If you don’t have this activated on your aid you will need to ask to audiologists to do this for you
If I am at a restaurant with one other person I normally find the standard All-Around setting is fine although selecting the Speech Clarity option with the Resound App does help.
If I am in restaurant/bar with several other people and i am struggling, I will use the Hear in Noise program, I find this does reduce background noise (music noise from other tables etc.) and make it easier to focus. I tend to use this program as a last resort because I find that the reduction of the background sound also reduces the general vibe/atmostphere

Excellent info, many thanks for sharing. Is the Resound Enzo I A comparable to the (Costco version) JABRA PRO Enhance MAX ?
