After last checkup, while still in the office, the sound of sh was prominent in the conversation from the Tester. Went back and some adjustment was made but it doesn’t always sound the sh. Sometimes it happens with a female tv voice and other times it is all men’s voices. I can even hear it from my own voice sometimes. Can this ever be fixed? I am getting the push from them to purchase new . They are 3 years old. This is my fourth set, first time ever had this problem.

Yes- this sounds like you don’t get your higher frequencies sufficiently amplified- you should ask your audiologist to boost those specifically. I did that myself, using Target, and found that doing exactly that significantly improved things. The software’s off-the-shelf settings, restoring “normal hearing” perhaps, are not great for me.

We don’t know what your hearing loss is so it’s difficult to analyze your issue.

The SH sound could have been from the Sound Recover, technology. A simple toggle of a switch can turn it on and off.

That sounds more like something I’d want to troubleshoot before replacing the hearing aids altogether. If the issue comes and goes depending on the voice or frequency, I’d be asking for another fitting session or a second opinion on the programming. Three years doesn’t seem that old if the hardware is otherwise working fine.

Why did you delete it? Rick was right it’s the SoundRecover settings too aggressive, and you can toggle it off, but I’m also glad you got it sorted, cheers
