Telecoil and advanced age. Is it the best solution?

This might be wandering into MFI (made for iphone) territory and older HA’s. Not even all current HA’s include bluetooth.

The Motorola, as confirmed by Lenovo technical, is hardware capable and only needs a “simple” software update by Lenovo. They will not be doing the update. I was told that the lack of software update is an encouragement to have people buy new phones instead. (Based on that attitude, it won’t by anything by Lenovo)

The ZTE also is hardware capable, but is lacking the operating system update which will not be provided.

The hearing aids are Signia Pure Charge N Go.

I wonder if there is a cell service carrier nearby who has Senior Friendly phones that are bluetooth capable for the hearing devices. Some carriers in the United States have simple to use big button phones for seniors that are hearing aid compatible.

You mentioned that the phone doesn’t re-connect automatically when back in range of the hearing aids. I think that’s a phone software problem. The Mac computer and the iPad we have re-connect automatically when going back in range. Somehow bluetooth can be set to automatically re-connect or to not automatically connect.

That ZTE is an antique now. Most Android manufacturers limit updates to just a few years. Apple is better but they still eventually drop support. OS updates stop sooner than security updates. I stop using phones when they no longer get security updates.

Either way though, I’m surprised you have difficulty connecting to them with your aids but have no difficulty with connecting to those couple Apple products.
