I’m posting to see whether others have experienced something similar, and to share what I’ve learned so far.
I’ve been using Phonak L70 Bluetooth hearing aids with a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Over time, I experienced a persistent issue where audio output during calls would unpredictably switch away from the hearing aids, even though they remained connected. When this happened, call audio would suddenly route to the phone speaker or elsewhere, making conversation unreliable.
I went through extensive troubleshooting over several months, including:
resetting Bluetooth and network settings
removing and re-pairing the hearing aids
factory resets and clean setup
testing with and without other Bluetooth devices
same issue with Signia 71X hearing aids
testing before and after One UI / firmware updates
wiping the system partition cache (which produced only a brief improvement before the issue returned)
Importantly, the same hearing aids work reliably with an older Samsung phone, which helped rule out the aids themselves as the cause.
Samsung Product Support confirmed to me in writing that this is a firmware-related issue, but would not confirm whether or when it would be resolved in future updates. After months without a reliable fix, I ultimately moved to a newer phone model, where the issue does not occur using the same hearing aids.
I’m not posting this to assign blame, but to ask:
Have others seen similar Bluetooth audio routing issues on the S22 series?
Does this occur with other hearing aid brands/models, or primarily with Phonak?
Has anyone found a durable workaround?
I’m particularly interested in experiences involving firmware updates or One UI changes, as the behavior appeared to worsen over time rather than improve.
Any insights or shared experiences would be appreciated.
