Is there any Hearing Aid to use it on pool, ocean?

Hello i have a dumb question so I’m sorry in advance.

Is there any hearing aid that may be a 100% waterproof to like go into the ocean, to do swimming or into a lake without getting the aids destroyed cuz I really like to swim but is a pain in the ass not being able to hear in the water haha or there is not such thing as that ?

There are some that make this claim, but take it with a pinch of salt, I wouldn’t recommend you do this.

As far as I know, there is no hearing aid that is waterproof. Water resistant is the best they offer. I would not trust destroying $5000 hearing aids even if there was a claim to be waterproof.

Even if you can find aids advertised as “waterproof,” a claim I too would question, I especially recommend not swimming with them in salt water (not only the ocean, but many pools use salt water). Electronics and salt water are NOT a good combo. Even walking along the beach repeatedly in windy weather is risky because the aids will get salt spray on them.

Most aids claim to have some degree of measured moisture resistance, and they’re a lot better than they used to be about this, but moisture resistant does not mean you can submerge them for any extended time.

Actually a number of brands and models do claim to be IP68, but definitely wouldn’t swim or shower with them regardless of what they say.

As @tenkan said, some (most) modern hearing aids are IP68 which means they can be immersed in water (1 meter depth) for 30 min. Phonak claimed their Lumity Life model could be immersed up to 1 mtt of water (even salt water) for 60 min. (see below).

Like others said, I wouldn’t do this. Maybe if I had a 2nd set of cheap or if money was not an issue for me.

I wonder if Phonak would replace a water-damaged aid. I once swam with my Apple Watch, which Apple claims is water-resistant to 50m, but it stopped working, and Apple refused to repair it under warranty.

For music, there are quite a few (cheapish) earbuds out there that can be used when swimming, often incorporating an mp3-player (see example below).
Personally I struggled to find earbuds that are loud enough (at the end, I only found One Plus Buds Pro 2 loud enough), and finding suitable buds that are also fully waterproof will be a real challenge.

Yeah that’s another real challenge to find an earbud that goes to my level of hearing loss, thanks for the alternative.

I’m a swimmer as well and I have your solution.

First off, WIFI and Bluetooth do not work underwater. Not even a bit, so forget about phone calls.

You can only get Music underwater if you bring it along via MP3 or any other download extension.

Go buy Shokz Swim Pro, download up to 3,000 songs on it and enjoy your swim.

Your hearing loss is significantly less than “SheikD’s” (and mine). Do the specs of this device support a use for the >60 db hearing-impaired?

Think about how unstable your hearing aids are and whether you think they wouldn’t end up in the briny deep…:0(

My spouse found an apple watch submerged in 15 ft of water off of the Kona coast. I cleaned off about six months of algae growth, charged it up and it worked just fine. It still sits on my desk as owner has never responded to multiple emails and apple store would not accept it and return to owner. It also serves as a reminder that watches should be secured with passwords, as they cannot be remotely wiped if found sitting on the bottom of the ocean.

That’s what i want, to hear music while I’m swimming but sadly i cannot hear with the shokz pro so unfortunately I’m out of options :pensive_face:. Ty for taking your time to answer

No i don’t think it supports it cause I’ve tried them and i can’t hear anything at all, it’s because the bone conduction of the shokz is for people with the inner ear in healthy form as it will bypass the outer and middle ear to reach it through bone conduction, this is why for me that i have it doesn’t work due to my inner ear being damaged lol, hope that helps cheers.
