I have DSL 5.0 Pediatric almost a year. That was good choice, especially when I am hard of hearing since childhood.

Regarding jury duty, i got a permanent excusal stating I found it difficult to understand speech consistently because of my hearing loss. Explained how sometimes I lose understanding of context or even the subject of the speech. Increased difficulty with accents and lack of lip reading conditions. In other words, i am not able to maintain coherent speech understanding. Mention that that situation is stressful and exhausting as well. It is not just loudness as we all know.

Of course, if you do not have these symptoms be honest. The point is if this is your experience, you will be a compromised juror and the authorities do not want you in the pool to potentially be exploited.

Try asking for accommodations so that you can hear clearly enough such as a Assistive Listening System or CART (captioning that goes on a screen for you by a live person). This request will let them know your hearing aids are not enough and that you will be expensive and more trouble than one juror is worth! You could also have your audiologist write a note saying you need the accommodations as without them, despite hearing aids, your word recognition is only _%

They’re not now.

My wife says “your hearing aids don’t work. “

I’ve never had BTE hearing aids before.

Last night we took an e-bike ride. I couldn’t hear at all. My speed was low. Wind noise was high.

I haven’t had real ear measurement with these hearing aids

I’m retired now. I’m at home so when hearing aids don’t work it’s terrible
