The most challenging sound environment for me is riding in the car at relatively higher speeds on relatively rough highways. Either the road noise is overwhelming if using Program #1, or everything is muffled including the speech of others in the car if using Program #2. I don’t remember this situation being this bad with my previous hearing aids, but I think that could be because I kept them turned down ALL the time because the general sound quality was harsh
If you still have a slot available, you could ask your audiologist to copy your general program (P1) and switch the Sound Enhancer to “Balanced” or “Comfort.” I’ve been playing around with Neural Noise Suppression (NNS), and in my case, changing the Sound Enhancer from “Detail” to “Comfort” worked better than bumping NNS from, say, 6 to 10 .
We usually get our set up in a quiet clinic, but once we step outside, the real world could be harsh on us. Genie 2 shows this pretty clearly—in my last 31 days with the Intents, I was in complex environments 46% of the time, moderate 27%, and simple 27%.
That’s why the right side of the screenshot below is so important—though it’s often overlooked. I think (I am not a pro) that those are the settings that really help in situations like the one you described in your car.
That’s my P1:
And here is a more comfortable setup of my P1:
