I have recently purchased Phonak Audeo 190-Sphere hearing aids. My problem with them is hearing myself breath and if I eat with them on, I hear the really noisy sound of me eating. Help, does this get better with use?

You will get to the point you don’t pay attention to it. Just like I no longer pay attention to my tinnitus. Our brains stop pay attention to sounds that are there most of the time unless you concentrate on those sounds.

Your own voice probably sounds louder too.
If you are new to or you switched the type of domes/molds to a more closed one then yes , this can happen during the adaptation period (it’s not unusual).
If it doesn’t go away by the time of your next visit to the /fitter, talk to him/her about this . It may be what’s is called an occlusion effect.

You may get used to it or you may have too occlusive of a fit. Posting your and telling us what kind of domes/molds you’re using would help.

Thank you for replying. The ends are a mold of my ear which makes it more closed in. I thought this probably had something to do with it, and yes my voice is very loud. I am seeing my next week and will discuss it with him.

Hello, the ends are hard shells made from a mold of each ear. I think that is causing the problem. I am going to try soft domes to see if that helps.Thank you.

Your isn’t visible to me but I’m guessing they had a reason for going with custom molds. Going to soft domes may solve one issue but create another one. My first thought would be bigger vents in your custom molds.

People that talk loud tend to have hearing loss. The answer is to increase the gain/volume of the aids. Then when you talk too loud you will hear it and amazingly lower your voice.
