Issues with diy phonak programming

Hello,

I use Phonak Infinio Sphere i70 hearing aids. Because I had various issues with the audiologist’s adjustment, I am trying to adjust them myself.

After doing the using the hearing aids, with the “first fit” setting everything generally sounds low and voices are dull and hoarse. I tried increasing the high frequencies to fix it, but I cannot achieve the correct level.

Does anyone have a solution?

Is it possible to find instructions somewhere for adjusting hearing aids?

Why is this problem happening although the audiogram is correct?

I use the phonak adaptive 3 fitting formula.

Okay so first off, did you read the user guides before starting? This is always with software, so depending on where you got it read it.
To get the best from you first need to understand how and what to adjust before just jumping in blind, target has a “automatic fine tuning” wheryoy can choose an issue and target will attempt to rectify for you.
Have you entered the correct acoustics, run the feedback test etc
Post your audogram as this will be helpful.

Yes this should of been with target when you got it.
Step by step guide, super easy to follow, target has a demo simulation mode, use it to get familiar with how things work in target.

In addition to what @tenkan said:
(1) Write the list of issues you are having and use the Automatic fine tuning (Autosense ->Program → Select Automatic Tuning). In the absence of knowledge, this tool can be quite helpful.
(2) Try another fitting formula like NAL-NA2 or DSLv5. The advantage of programming is that you can try all options.
(3) Click in Phonak Target: The user guide is there.
(4) Audiologyonlinedotcom has training videos that you can watch for free.

Yes I have read the phonak target step by step guide. I used the automatic tools for fine tuning. The things hoping better with these tools but still I have issues.

These issues are those that I had with my audiolohist.

I haven’t tried yet the nal-nl2.

Here is my with some other screenshot. It is exactly the results of first fit.

I agree with what @tenkan said (He is one of the best gurus here).

I entered your into Target and used instead of . Proprietary formulas tend to prescribe lower gains compared to NAL-NL2/ . I can see higher gains with NAL-NA2 (as I expected).

(1) Go to Global settings: You can move the lever to 110% if you want more overall gain.
(2) With NAL-NA2: M receivers are barely enough for the default prescribed gains.
(3) If (1) and (2) are not enough, use the Automatic fine tuning and select the issue. I think this is better than randomly increasing values if I don’t know at what frequency the issue is.

NAL-NA2 + 110%: This cannot be done with the M receiver. If you want to go higher than the default gains provided by the NAL-NA2, you’ll need a P receiver.

One thing I did when programming my Phonaks: I compared the three formulas and, for each frequency, I chose the value of gain => gain(freq) = max( DSL(freq), NAL-NA2(freq), ADP(freq)).

The main reason that I like doing DYI is because it allows me to play with the parameters (reasonably). The downside of this: It can take some time to get where you want the aids to be.

Just for info… I have increased the overall gain by 3dB and the high frequencies additionally by 2dB. The things are a little better but still sounds dull-muffled. (The running water, the plastic bags, even the dishes…) It is like something “cuts off “ the sounds.
