If you hate hearing aids squealing, whistling, or chirping, HearAdvisor needs your ears. We’re asking people to rate short audio clips for how much feedback they hear, from none to severe.

How I would love if I didnt have people say to me “where is that squeaking noise coming from?”

In most cases, it is the tubing. It eventually dries out and becomes hard, and it is wise to have several tubes handy if you know how to replace them. Secondly, it is the ear mold. It should fit tightly because a lot of sound pressure from the hearing aid is going into your ear like a wind tunnel and pounding on the eardrum. If it is a loose or an old earmold, it will leak the sound out on the side of the earmold and cause the feedback, a squealing noise. So it is best to get it done by an audiologist or mold fitter every 2 to 3 years.
