When I open MyPhonak and it connects to Sphere it sometimes triggers either a reboot or the reboot chime. This happens more regularly if I have not used the app in a while. The stay connected to the app setting is off. It usually happens in only the aid which is connected to the other aid and not aid connected to the phone, but sometime it happens in both aids. Is this normal? Is it some sort of partial reboot to enable the app connection?

I have the same experience. In my memory the actually shuts off for a few seconds, so it is probably restarting. It does not happen that often that I see it as a problem. I never asked my audiologist.

Yes, I can hear the aid seem to shut off. It seems the reboot may be a little faster than from off, but I have not timed it so it could just be that I’m not waiting for it to turn on.
All Phonak aids operate this way due to something in the Bluetooth or app connection stack?

When I open the Phonak app, it goes into Bluetooth streaming mode for a moment and chimes, then switches back to Automatic mode. If you watch the banner in the app when it opens, you can actually see it happen.

Are you sure that’s not due to some sort of app notification setting? I wonder because this chime can be unilateral or bilateral and does not happen each time the app connects.

The Phonak app uses Bluetooth LE to talk to your hearing aids, according to the Phonak documentation.
