Lisp with new hearing aids

I’ve had NHS Hearing aids for 40 years but just been fitted with new ones and experiencing an irritating lisp (from my voice as well as those I’m talking to). My follow-up appointment to fine tune is over 3 months away. Desperate. Any advice.

Turn the volume down a step.

You do need to give it time though. Your brain may just adjust it out. If you can moderate it with the volume, you could try going a couple steps down this week, but not quite as many next week, and so on.

Yeah 3 months is crazy time to wait, post your audogram but if your severe profound loss and using Phonak(or any brand using ) the SoundRecover could be set to strong and would need to be adjusted, have you considered , if you can’t find any other solution then this would be quicker then 3 months!

3 months is very long, yes. I do like a long follow-up though. Patients come back at two weeks like, “Waah, it’s sharp and tinny turn it down” whereas they come back at 5 weeks like “It was sharp and tinny starting out, but now that has just gone away and I am hearing well.” :rofl:

Yes, can definitely cause this. I had a similar problem with my Starkey Evolv aids, and lowering the gain of the lowered frequency solved it. It was especially noticeable with the “S” sound.
